- Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May set out to prove that old Jaguars are not only stylish and roguish, but also strong and reliable with a road trip across Colorado. Along the way they set laps around a punishing dirt track and test 0-100-0 performance at America's highest commercial airport before embarking on one of the most perilous challenges they've ever attempting; avoiding the expense of lift passes and ski equipment by going skiing in their cars. - Jeremy Clarkson , Richard Hammond and James May set out to prove that old Jaguars are not only stylish and roguish, but also strong and reliable with a road trip across Colorado. They've ever attempting; avoiding the expense of lift passes and ski equipment by going skiing in their cars.
- The trio head to the State of Colorado, to establish Jaguar's reputation for reliability by purchasing a selection of its classics - Clarkson brings along the XJR (V8 Supercharged, BP 4000. Traction control, anti-lock brakes have failed on this car.), May buys an XK8 convertible (), and Hammond takes with him a Mark X (a proper villainous Jag. 1967 420 G. BP 6500, driven by every bank robber in England, the toolkit is custom made for robberies (it seems), and bits keep popping off this Jag due to poor fitment and build quality). They suggest that Jag owners are basically petty thieves, and this chicanery is expected of them. In the 5 years up to 2016, they only sold 200,000 Jags worldwide. In the same period Audi, Mercedes, and BMW each sold over 8 MM cars. Mr Wilman says that that's because Jags used to break down, so the trio decide to disprove that.
Pretty soon the Mark X is filled with smoke. The gearbox on the XJR fails. The trio take their choices for a road trip from Grand Junction to Telluride, taking part in a series of challenges including a off road race, which the trio complete by driving as slowly as possible. May in 1:42. Clarkson in 1:27. Hammond DNF (smashed rear window, boot lid off, oil and coolant everywhere and the car doesn't start).
To prove that Jags are reliable, the trio replace Hammond's car with a new one, and pretend that it is still the old one fixed. They stay at a motel overnight and leave the next day by stealing everything move-able in their rooms. Hammond's car again broke down. Clarkson gets pulled over by the police and Hammond's car overheats after he fixed it fuel pump.
Mr Wilman tells the trio to go to Telluride airport (highest commercial airport in the world), accelerate to a 100mph and brake to 0 before the runway runs out (there is a 1000-foot drop at the end of it. Clarkson makes it. Hammond does, barely. May's car falls off the cliff. May also replaces his car with a new one. The next challenge is to ski down in their Jags. So, the trio steal winter clothes wherever they can put their hands on them. Since one car doesn't have enough power, May connects the 3 cars together to make a 6 wheel drive. But Clarkson keeps giving more power that jack knifes May to the edge. Eventually they get the hang of it and get to the top summit at 12,500 feet. They start skiing down the slope and the brakes start failing. Then the ski gets very narrow and the cars skid all over the place and the final slope is very steep. Hammond and Clarkson make it but May ends up in a shallow lake at the end of the ski run.
Conversation street: Fire brigades these days have a new tool called the Jaws of Life and use it in the most ridiculous circumstances. In one instance a guy had a brand-new range rover with 400 miles and had barely a scratch in an accident and got his roof taken off by firemen. They do it because they can, like when Clarkson bought a chainsaw and now uses it to carve his Sunday turkey. Aston Martin launched a new car called the Vantage. 4L, twin turbo charged V8 from the Mercedes. The same engine is in the DB11. And its better than a V12 as it is lighter. A Chinese spare parts company gives itself a western name and calls its "Dick Ass".
Meanwhile, Kiefer Sutherland (Had 5 middle names, as his dad owed a lot of people money. First car 1967 Mustang. He was driving from NY to LA and in Texas was hit by 80 mph winds, which were more powerful than the car and it just stopped on the highway) and Luke Evans (Acted in Fast and Furious 6, the Franchise has destroyed 1478 cars till date. Luke damaged BP 3.7 MM worth of cars, while Jason Statham damaged BP 147 MM worth. The first time he drove a car was a hired one Mustang from LA airport to the audition for Fast and Furious film. His father has a azure blue Cortina 1600E, which he painted himself) face off as the latest guests competing to see who is the fastest amongst them "World's fastest actor whose middle name is George". Kiefer 1:17.8, Luke 1:21.3
