I'm probably in the minority, but I'd like more SCIENCE and less SILLY.

I'm a huge fan of these guys and have been since they first appeared in Mythbusters. I enjoyed the last season of that show, but felt like losing these three was a big loss.

Therefore I'm super happy Netflix threw some bucks at them and got them their own gig, and it's a great time revisiting a gang who feel like old friends now - already this show gets a big pass from me.

My issue here really is with the presentation. Each subject they cover is LADEN with silly over-the-top sketch performances by the gang that easily eat up 60-70% of the screen time, with only 30% left over for the actual meat of the science. I realize that I'm in the minority of the public who find the tech stuff fascinating and the fluff, well, fluffy, but I could really do with a lot less "estrogen crazed Hitler dancing through the tulips" (in an especially egregious example of this from the "world war 2 crazy weapons" episode) and more fun experiments-gone-wrong. If they had cut out, for example, all of the "Farting Germans at a Cafe" and "Hitler gets boobs" feature-ettes from that episode they could have packed in at least a few more crazy weapon schemes which I would have found WAY more interesting.

To summarize, I watch a TON of hilarious sketch comedy shows already, when I want science I want to turn to these guys. Dial back the "acting" just a bit and you've got a winner.

Sorry for the broken English

The hosts are fun and friendly and the topics cover a range wide enough to suit most anyone's taste, also it's pretty fun to watch.

But it's all very light, whenever they cover a story that I find interesting, it leaves me with an immediate need to read about the subject cuz I just haven't learned enough, there's too little information in this show.

It's a pity that this program has been built for people who have the attention span of a 2 yo... sadly it seems to be the leading trend right now.

Anyhow, it's clean fun TV that gives an incentive to learn so I'll still give it a good 7,5/10.

Mythbusters found out that you could not take the Build Team out of the show. Can you run a show using only the Build Team? And doing things similar to Mythbusters, without outright plagiarizing it? That's not an easy task.

And, for season one, it didn't go too well. If there is to be a second season, it will need some adjustments here and there.

The premise? Take a topic (Weirdest weapons of WW II, g-force and it's influence on humans, great escapes, just to give you examples) and pick six items related to it. Six weird weapons for example. Then, find three criteria to judge them by. Each of the three cast members takes two of them and demonstrates them. This can involve building something, like an electric car, it can be documentary footage, play scenes (some good, some bad) or a mix.

But - less nerd porn. Slightly more Byron cleavage, though (and a looong sequence of her in underwear). While Mythbusters tried, in a scientific way, to prove or disprove a myth, explaining the science behind it and showing different methods of testing them (with varying success), the White Rabbit Project lacks experimentation. More often than not, you will see experts in their fields and hobbyists demonstrating something. Quite interesting, but as six different aspects of the episode topic need their time, instead of just two or three myths, it lacks depth there.

Something is not quite right with the show. Yet. I'd love to see it succeed, though.

If you like Mythbusters, you'll like this too

White Rabbit Project is the next project out of the "B team" of the now-finished show Mythbusters. Grant, Tori and Kari team up again to explore a variety of different themes and scenarios, with the same amount of stunts and gadgets.

Essentially, each episode explores a certain topic. For example, episode 2 explores six different prison breaks, before ranking them on an arbitrary scale from worst to best. In order to do this, the show uses a mixture of replicating the thing in question, docu-drama style explorations of the history/origin of the thing in question, comedy skits with the team and/or actors, and interviews with experts in the field.

The most pressing issue is that in many ways the show feels downscaled compared to mythbusters. There are less 'experiments' in this show compared to mythbusters, the show uses a lot more stock footage and low budget docu-drama segments than mythbusters ever did, which kinda sucks to be honest. In many ways, the show talks more than shows.

While that is a letdown, it doesn't make the show 'bad' in any way. Tori, Grant and Kari are all still highly entertaining to watch. Their on-screen chemistry holds up, cheesy jokes and all, and when they do do stunts, those stunts are pretty impressive. Stuff like re-making a makeshift hot-air balloon, for example, or training a pigeon to drive a drone by tapping on a touchscreen. There's some good stuff in here.

Also, a MAJOR plus due to the Netflix format is that the editing is far better and less annoying. If you remember Mythbusters, there was a lot of repetition in that show due to the ad breaks. If you were watching the show on DVD, the narrator would often say the same thing twice in a row because an ad break was supposed to be there in between. There's no issue here, and the show flows perfectly with no breaks or issues in pacing.

If you have a Netflix account, this is certainly worth the watch, especially if you or your kid liked Mythbusters back in the day.

One of the most beloved and wickedly entertaining pieces of pop- culture in recent memory, "Mythbusters" was a small phenomena. Mixing real science with laugh-out-loud humor and an excellent cast of real-life characters, the series thrilled audiences for well over ten years and even after cancellation, it remains a fan-favorite for many a television viewer. So it should come as no surprise that a sort-of spiritual successor or follow-up would happen. And we get that in "White Rabbit Project", an entertaining but sometimes uneven new Netflix series starring the "Mythbusters" build-team of Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara. While it has a small slew of issues holding it back from sheer perfection, I do think that the show is off to a promising start, has a lot of room to grow, and should it be renewed for a second season, it has the potential to get better and better.

Each episode follows our hosts as they explore and discuss a topic, whether it be comic-book superpowers, long-fabled future-tech or even just real-life scam artists. We explore different aspects and examples of each topic and how they could be recreated in the real world or be accomplished. Along the way, we are treated to friendly banter, the occasional skit and plenty of likable chemistry with our three leads.

I'll definitely admit that perhaps the biggest part of the appeal here is the fact that we've finally rejoined the build-team after their absence in the final episodes of "Mythbusters", and the leftover love for that series that fans have. And it's part of what makes the series all the more palatable even when it falters at time. Byron, Bellaci and Imahara are endlessly likable and entertaining and have an absolutely wonderful sense of companionship on screen. The topics discussed are very fascinating and it's a lot of fun seeing them doing oddball things like turning roaches into technical cyborgs or discussing the topic of heists.

But that being said, I can't help but feel that the series is way too unfocused and uneven at times. To the point that some episodes just don't work. The show has a very frenetic pace and it never really stops to let you appreciate the science of what's happening. Therefore it can be hard to really get a handle or invest yourself. I also think there's a bit too much "qwirkiness" and "style" going on for the show's own good. Yes, it's fun seeing an occasional skit or seeing Grant dress up in a supervillain's outfit. But we don't need a five-minute scene to introduce an episode or a prolonged scripted scene of acting to introduce a segment. It's just got too much filler. I'd rather see more deliberate and streamlined episodes with a greater focus on and more breathing room for the actual experimentation.

But that being said... it's still a very decent show. Even if abbreviated, the science is fascinating. The topics are often very fun and quite varied. Our hosts are just a blast and a half and are consistently enjoyable to watch. And there's a lot of untapped potential beneath the surface that keeps you invested and hoping for more. So hopefully it'll do well enough to get more episodes ordered. I know I'd love to see more, and I think newer installments will get progressively better. It might not quite live up to the sheer perfection that was "Mythbusters"... but it's a worthy unofficial follow-up.

"White Rabbit Project" is a solid 7 out of 10 for me.

Not Mythbusters, but it's still good!

First off this isn't Mythbusters. The format is very different, but this isn't a bad thing.

Each episode centers around a theme, where the team compares and ranks 6 loosely related ideas (e.g. speed, heists, scams, etc.) Usually, for each idea there is storytelling interspersed with builds of contraptions used in the story. It's surprisingly entertaining, however, and the team is far more entertaining than they ever were on Mythbusters, where Adam and Jamie usually worked on the main myth of the episode and the stories of the myths weren't at the forefront.

Sometimes the stories are a little rushed in order to fit all 6 ideas in, and I wish they would spend more time on the builds, however, but that doesn't ruin it for me. In Mythbusters, I didn't particularly enjoy the sections the team did, but here they're so much more interesting to listen to. This show is nice and really surprised me, as I expected it to be very different than it is. Definitely worth a watch!

Make it more about the science and/or shorten the run time.

To start off, there's great potential in this series, I hope it keeps going and growing , and that the show runners listen in on what people want to see improved. Of course, it's also great to see the gang back together in this new "Mythbusters 2.0", although it's less myths, and more comparison of the best stories that fit the theme of the episode.

The story telling and comparison concept is also one of the major problems that I have with the show. Instead of the way it is now where the majority of the program is story telling and skits, and the minority is science and experimentation, I would like to see this be the other way around. It's the talents and creativity of the trio that I'm most interested in seeing be put to good use like when Grant built his octocopter, even if it means cutting it down to 1 story per person, and/or shortening episode length.

Maybe it's because of the concept of the show, but every episode seems to drag on for too long. If the show were to remain the same, I think it would greatly benefit from a 30-35 minute run time per episode, instead of the current 45 minute one. Remember, it's about quality, not quantity.

Again, I do hope that Netflix reads what I and others have said, and implements these suggestions in one way or another, because they could take the show from being just alright, to being great.

A benefit of the doubt, 7/10.

Mythbusters has been one of my favorite shows for over a decade, and over the years I grew incredibly fond of the build team, they're all super smart, kind and funny, they were made for this kind of TV! With the White Rabbit Project it seems all the building, experimenting and science got thrown out the window and instead it turned into a badly written comedy sketch show that feels forced and isn't funny. It's a real shame because they are all naturally funny so seeing them make corny jokes and do terrible impressions really hurts 😔 BRING BACK THE SCIENCE AND HANDS ON EXPERIMENTS PLEASE!!! We want our build team back!!

Utter Disappointment

This show was setup to look great, it had all the makings of a great show. a great cast, great premise and its on Netflix, a great media outlet!

Somehow it came out sub par. And i was very disappointed by this. The show is clearly not myth-busters 2.0 something most fans were in many ways expecting. Yes you will always get your haters when the sequel isn't as good as the original, but lets face it nothing is. This show simply needed better marketing to make it clear it is NOT in anyway like myth-busters. The science of the show is limited and far between, where as the show focuses on stories (not myths!) from history about a certain subject each episode. The weak glue holding together the reason for the show is to analyze 6 (random number??) events in history that involved the shows theme that episode. This sounded great in the trailers!

What you actually get however is stories. Long drawn out, poorly told stories often acted out in scene that's cheesy, dull and often filled with casual racism.

Don't get me wrong, some of the stories are quite interesting, but how they are told to you via the build team is just upsetting and corny.

For people we know are naturally funny, intelligent and interesting at telling the "myths", they somehow manage to make every serious real life event seem like a sitcom, constantly waiting for a punchline that never arrives. It hurt my eyes and ears to see the heist in which some old British men bust into a vault. What passes for 'humour' in the states clearly likely just enrages any real British folk with their appalling clichés.

What happened guys? I don't want to rag on you and the producers, but this show really needs a spit shine to pull out those good moments and great ideas, and really bring this up to par for a 2016 production.

We often barely see the build team, you know, building. They are often confined to god awful acting and cartoon like realities to tell a tale. Some of the really interesting stories have clearly been well researched and really grasp you and pull you "down the rabbit hole" you want to know more, you want to see the theory tested.. but then it ends, like sex without an orgasm. Abruptly cutting to a "hey that was a story you liked now lets rate it" pointless arbitrary system in which they give numbers to randomly picked features of the event etc.

WHY? Why 6? Why rate out of 10? Why place in some weakly held together ranking system, which isn't a surprise if you can do basic maths throughout the show, because that makes it science?

I'm open to the idea of trying something new, and I don't want to sound negative to the whole show, it's just hard not to when what limited hype for a show crushes your hopes when the final product arrives. Please just clean and buff the wheel, don't try reshape it.

I'll say now in a spoiler free way, the episode on con artists.. just skip it. It's dull, tedious and has 0 science in the entire episode, it's just storytelling done bad. All the facts in this episode can be found in a 10 second Google search. Sadly reading Wikipedia will likely be more entertaining.

Well I guess if this show is set for a season 2 it really needs to pick up it's game. Look how well grand tour did, just because its got the big 3 doing what we all know and love them doing. We liked myth-busters because science is fascinating, terrifying, fun, and also something we can see & prove in real life. We loved the build team for their natural reactions to things (censored though they often were), their quirky humor, and their mistakes which made them human and relate-able. We'd love to see more of them, and less of Hollywood please.

Will I return down the rabbit hole like Alice? Only after I've fallen asleep...

Buildteam is back!

It was a surprise to see this show in my Netflix. Admittedly, I have missed these three since Mythbusters changed format. Nothing of their new endeavors really seemed to match the feel and atmosphere. Close but not quite...

The first few episodes of White Rabbit reminded of a flopped show with a similar theme: "mystery stories" with partial re-enactments. It came across a bit amateurish and cheap but the stories gave the potential tot he show but the drive seemed to bleed out after a few episodes and it disapeared.

White Rabbit project had a similar feel at start; the team seemed out of place, slightly uncomfortable even to watch. Until a few episodes in and the pace is picked up, graphics and angles get more familiar and the team seems to get back into their groove. All planets align and everything sparkles again!

It is very enjoyable series to watch. Especially the fact the format is kept open on a per-episode base. Which opens up every episode to be a new and different experience you didn't expect. This has become a guilty pleasure to watch and I believe everyone who enjoyed and misses "the build team" will find the same enjoyment back in this series, watching them do what they do best.

They seem to think the science is boring

Why don't the creators of this show like science???

They seem to think that the facts and stories in the show are not interesting enough by themselves. So they try to "improve" the "boring" science with weak jokes and a dumb ranking-system. Spoiler: it's not an improvement!

If you watch this show, just skip the intro and the "outro" = the 10 minutes of wasted time where they score the different stories against each other.

That way you skip all the stupid and are left with the core: a few (mildy) interesting science-related stories, which are nice to watch.

Not mythbusters, but still entertaining!

Originally i started watching this with the idea that it was kinda mythbusters revamped and i was very disappointed. Once i started viewing it for what it was, an entertaining way to learn some science and history, i loved it!

I really wish they would bring this back!!

History plus Science Equals Well Rounded and Informative

It's hard to believe that people are trashing this show for adding real history to the science. To one reviewer especially, I say that those who think history is just fluff are doomed to repeat it, badly. This show isn't just Mythbusters reheated. It was never intended to be. It builds on the Mythbusters' pragmatic analytical approach and adds a fascinating context of real history. The information is presented in a lighthearted, but still articulate way, with a good dose of actual science. If you're a well rounded person who loves Science AND loves history, you'll love this show.

Feels like a high budget top-10 list

I'm really disappointed White Rabbit Project ended up as meh as it was. I've always enjoyed the trio's segments on Mythbusters and while it was sad to see them leave the show, I was excited to see what they could accomplish with their freedom on Netflix. Instead, the show feels like a very high budget YouTube top ten list with occasional experiments here and there.

Each episode focuses on a general theme, such as superhero powers. Each of the three have two entries out of 6, generally with one being an experiment and the other being some small research and storytelling. At the end of every episode, the 6 entries are (supposedly?) averaged out and ranked on three criteria, like "how similar is it to the actual superpower." The problem I have with White Rabbit Project is that it doesn't play to the strengths that the trio had back in Mythbusters. Everybody works separately here, maybe showing up to an experiment as a test subject every once in a while, which is a far cry from their work in Mythbusters.

I would only recommend watching this if you have nothing else to watch and you liked the trio's work back in Mythbusters. There's definitely some good episodes in here, don't get me wrong, but even despite those good episodes, the majority of this show is forgettable.

Kari,Tory,and Grant are back in action

I am a tech enthusiast with qualifications in History, Physics, Engineering and Computing. I know what I am talking about and loved Mythbusters because so did they, but this show is like Mythbusters crossed with a tabloid and a reality TV show.

This is the show a 8 to 16 year old could watch but for most other people is is dull.

It is painful to watch the BAD CGI, I mean really bad mostly because it is so stupid and pointless! Floating screens and bad holograms that grant , Tory and Kari pretend to interact with just look so bad, it is really disappointing how much rubbish is in this show, the creators really banked on the Mythbusters trio attracting viewership but they don't have the quality of content to hold us.

They trio said it best in the first episode when the mocked Tori's short movie clip, everything they said applies so strongly to the show itself.

Then there is some stupid stuff they do, most is just funny or harmless but some is trash. In one episode they promote shooting down, smashing or otherwise disabling other peoples property which is very illegal and selfish! Or there is point where they pick trash situations over interesting ones like Hitler on estrogen when they could have picked something much more ludicrous and interesting.

Sometimes beyond dangerous

Loved the program but I am so surprised that the 'hover board' did not go disastrously wrong! Now way was there enough safety features added. I would like to see an up to date version of the program with newer designs, in particularly the jet pac by Gravity Industries that is currently being assessed by the UK Military.

I hope that the crew will consider another series following the death of Grant, I was shocked and saddened to hear this.

Too Much Profanity

The show is good and mostly very informative and entertaining HOWEVER: I really think the profanity you use, liberally, demeans your actors and detracts from a professional overall presentation. Which I must "assume" your sponsors would like to see and take or enjoy your program's enlightenment seriously. It's not Junior High people and the constant cursing is not funny. Especially using God's name in vain profusely is never a sign of a considerate and popular show.

While I love Mythbusters, the big fan in our house is my 9 year old son. We were looking forward to watching this, however after a few episodes we're done with it.

The show itself was great, they kept the 'mythbusters' style feel to it however, My kid doesn't need to listen to constant profanity EVERY single episode.

While my hopes were initially high waiting for this one, we won't be watching it again (at least until my son grows up and I allow him to start watching shows with bad language). It may be the norm for most people now but not in My house.

We're happy enough watching re-runs of Mythbusters.

Watch this only if you don't like science

Let me keep it short and simple; this show just kept all the wrong ingredients. The poor scripts, worse acting, and really bad jokes make for an awkward viewing of three people I loved in Mythbusters.

The whole idea behind the show is great; Mythbusters 2.0. Except the things that made mythbusters great aren't there. The show is trying way too hard to be cool and in doing so misses the point of mythbusters; looking at people working on finding an answer to an interesting science based question.

The best part for me was to see how someone would tackle the issue. How everyone helped to get the project up and running and to see if their hypothesis was correct. You'll get a lot of joking, shorts scenes, and a couple of shots of one of the trio actually building something, if you're lucky. It's just too bad, because I like Tory, Grant, and Kari, but I just don't like this show.

Way too much filler and silliness.

The general idea of this show is great, but the presentation is terrible.

There is around 70% filler in this show just to waste time. Lots of talk and hardly any action.

If they tweaked the show so there's not so much filler material it was be much better. As it is now, be ready to scan forward a lot.

Interesting premise - dumb execution

While the premise is interesting the execution is just so drab, clunky and plain dumb. I'm not sure what is the intended audience but it's neither for kids nor for adults. It's this weird mix of explaining things to people like you're five, fake amazement, poor scriptwritting and just sheer pointlessness of things that are being done that makes this how unwatchable.

"White Rabbit Project". Yeah. First, in the interest of full disclosure, there are a few things you need to know before reading this review. Let me tell you right up front, that I am a former TV Director, Producer, Composer and Writer, I know FIRSTHAND that ANY television program DOES NOT grow from a single crystal while everyone has gone home. Secondly, since I do NOT wish to pay for a Netflix account, I NEVER saw "White Rabbit Project".

However, after reading ALL the negative reviews here on IMDB, it seems to me that the producers had the feeling that they could just put Kari, Grant and Tory together again, and they'd have a WINNER.

But, it appears, the thought of counting solely upon the considerable chemistry of the "Mythbusters" Build Team in order to make a new show fly being somehow a good idea, was one of the MAJOR BLUNDERS in the history of television. I hate to break it to the Netflix folx, but there have been TV shows built from MUCH more and MUCH, MUCH BETTER parts than just the talents of the three hosts (which, don't get me wrong, ARE VERY watchable and quite enjoyable together), yet said other shows died horrible and early deaths. It's really kind of a shame... Kari, Grant and Tory are fun to watch and very entertaining. BUT THERE HAS TO BE A COMPLETELY THOUGHT-OUT SHOW BUILT AROUND THEM, or they really have NOTHING to do. "White Rabbit Project" most likely sounded good on paper. But since the majority of Television in general has people in their early TWENTIES making important decisions these days (and believe me - I've come across a LOT of them), and these people who are just out of their TEENS, are "greenlighting" shows that SOUND good - giving them the go-ahead BEFORE a single frame of video has been shot. And let me say to the Hosts: I'm genuinely sorry this one didn't work out for you. But hey - Adam Savage has a show, and this one, in the summer of 2019, is his SECOND since "Mythbusters". I'm sure you can do a cameo or two there. Hopefully, Beyond Productions can come up with SOMETHING for you three that is A COMPLETE SHOW!
