I really enjoyed this film! I actually thought it was a film about friendship, but quickly discovered it's more about the quest to find her biological father.
Once I understood that, I got a chuckle from from the title ;-)
I imagine the reason her mother wanted to keep the secret was probably because she must have been a very caring and sensitive lady. Maybe she wanted Sara and and her dad to keep that bond because she knew she wouldn't be around forever...and perhaps she didn't want Sara's dad to feel anything less than her father? It was a different time.
It's great that Pat turned out to be a sweet guy and wonderful that Sara met a kindred soul with Jennifer (and her lovely mom).
At the end of the day Sara is very blessed with all the rich relationships in her life, we all should be so lucky!
