Originally, the director was working since September 2015 on another project called Period. It was a drama and it was supposed to be filmed in Los Angeles. But after months and months in development hell, he met the actress Sarah Nicklin, and Aggression was born. The director kept part of the cast and crews from his previous project.
It's the second full length film of the director after Life (2011). Between the two films, Rick Jacquet worked on a book and left the industry.
The story is a mix of various genres. It starts as a family drama, with almost no dialogues, then it becomes a home invasion film, then a thriller, and finally a horror movie.
The writer / director rewrites the ending to add more special effects.
There are so many special effects involved and pre-production is so short that the director had to hire two artists. The first one, David Désir, for make-up effects, and Aurore Dugat for more technical effects.
