The Last Traction Hero is a good Simpsons episode with a reasonably well written plot and some very funny scenes. The highlight of the episode, for me, was without a doubt the relationship dynamic between Marge and Smithers. It was an interesting story that could have been fleshed out more, their dialogue with one another was really special.
The side story was very ineffective, I found little care or interest about the plot progression of Lisa becoming a bus monitor, it was clearly just added in by the writers as filler, with little enthusiasm.
Both parts of the episode have a very little plot overall, it felt almost like a collection of sketches rather than a fully fledged 20 minute show. Each scene was a little disconnected from the other.
It's an episode that falls flat as it never tries to be in any way special. Forgettable, but not regrettable, The Last Traction Hero is an average Simpsons.
Marge and Smithers begin spending a lot of time together, while Lisa becomes the new bus monitor.
