Gary Oldman and Emily Mortimer in Mary (2019)

Goofs

Mary

Edit

Factual errors

"Production assistant to Mrs. Mortimer" mistakenly credited Emily Mortimer's mother. For the actress's correct marital status, "Ms. Mortimer" would've been more appropriate.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

The copyright notice and the all persons fictitious disclaimer are in start case, where the first letter of each word is capitalized, rather than the usual sentence case.

Errors in geography

When the Mary pulls into Andros, a mountainous island is seen. The island of Andros has no such mountains.

Character error

Characters throughout the film sometimes refer to their vessel as a boat (which is correct) and sometimes as a ship (which is incorrect). Generally-speaking a ship can carry a boat, but a boat can't carry another boat.
One of the characters refers to a "helmsMAN," but the traditional pronunciation is "helmsmn," with no vowel between the m and n.
On at least one occasion, David (Gary Oldman) pronounces the word "cay" as "kay." The correct pronunciation is "key."
At one point, David (Gary Oldman) is marking a nautical chart with a pen. Common practice is to use a pencil because charts are expensive and are reused as much as is practical.
David (Gary Oldman) instructs Mike (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) to steer towards a specific latitude and longitude via a course of "19 degrees." A proper steering command would be something like "steer a course of zero one nine." Someone experienced with commercial maritime activities would have said it correctly.
