Intro: Superposed shotguns weren't available until the 1930's.
Honey bees are shown swarming on Frank Griffin's severed arm when bees do not eat meat nor are they attracted to it.
When the salesman gives Bill the glasses in the diner, he says they are magnifying glasses. Magnifying lenses are commonly used in reading glasses, but also to treat hyperopia (farsightedness). However, when Bill puts them on, he is suddenly able to read the diner menu from across the room. Magnification will only make distant objects blurrier, not sharper. Bill would need glasses for myopia (nearsightedness) to see the diner menu clearly.
Timeline for this series is supposed to be 1884. Mountain Meadows massacre was in 1857. 27 years between. Jeff Daniels was 62 when this was produced, which would make his character 35 years old when the terrible incident occurred, even though the flashbacks show him to be a child of 10 or younger.
Frank Griffin complains about the bumble bees when they are in fact honey bees.
Mary Agnes shoots a quail with a shotgun but the sound is of a rifle.
Sheriff McNue doesn't read newspapers anymore, and shuffles papers on the desk, muttering, "Where are the keys?"- too blind to see the set of large keys right next to his hand. Roy notices his distress. However, when Whitey asks the prisoner's name, McNue is inspired by glancing at the title of a Montgomery Ward catalog.
The Norwegian settlers are not speaking Norwegian. Some of the words they say could be Norwegian (or Swedish), but with a strong accent that sounds unnatural if they are first generation immigrants.
Frank Griffin describes how his family was all killed in the Mountain Meadows Massacre when he was a young child. This was a true historical event that took place in 1857. The fore mentioned scene takes place in 1884 which would put Frank Griffin in his early thirties. Jeff Daniels, who plays Frank Griffin is in his early sixties.
