Solid Follow-Up
Samuel-Shovel10 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In "Flying", after the disaster storm Eleanor caused by her presence at the end of the last episode, she must convince Chidi that he should teach her to be good so that she can stay in the Good Place. Eleanor is forced to volunteer trash pickup and must miss flying practice. Tahani feels frustrated with Jianyu because she loves to talk and cannot handle his vow of silence. Eleanor flashes back to some of the bad things she's done throughout her life.

As we slowly world build, it's nice to get a bit of more background on each character. Obviously Eleanor is the focal point of the show but it's nice to have three dimensional supporting characters as well. We are slowly starting to get there with Chdi, Tahani, and even Michael. We even have trash-obsessed tertiary characters for the occasional punchline. Two episodes in and not much to complain about yet!

Trying to be good

Warning: Spoilers
Eleanor keeps remembering the designated driver flashbacks, and I wonder if it becomes a recurring motif through season 1. Jianyu is a character waiting to burst out amidst Eleanor's attempts to be "good" and remembering where Chidi was born.

This episode was directed by Michael McDonald who gained fame in MAD TV, and written by Alan Yang.

Selfishness

Warning: Spoilers
So we saw Eleanor who get some lessons to be more integrated in the good place. So they talked about Selfishness. So her soulmate try to help her with helping the neighbors to put all in place in the streets and clean. We saw also some flashbacks where Eleanor was Selfish with her friends and how she tricked them many times. We see a lot of references to philosophical writers like Aristote and things like this. So basically, Eleanor get helped with her soulmate. I hope the episode will get a little bit more deep about philosophy and stuff because it looked pretty superficial now but i enjoyed it anyway and the comedy is not too much. Things get more complicated for Eleanor because she will realise that maybe someone know that she is an impostor and that she doesnt belong in this place. Pretty interesting and mysterious. Need to see more.

Back and Forth
Hitchcoc7 January 2020
Eleanor has caused a huge mess. She wants to stay and needs to know how to do that. Chidi is so suspicious of her motives and tries to get to be a deep thinker. The problem is that she is what she is. Going to The Good Place doesn't make her any smarter. Since she caused all the trash to be spread, she must skip flying lessons and pick up said trash. There are views of Eleanor back in her previous life, especially her standing with her girlfriends.
