Glad Charlotte is OK

Warning: Spoilers
It's impossible for Charlotte to have survived being underwater that long. Especially when she was shown inhaling lungs full of water. But I'm sure glad she did. She's by far my favorite character.

Best so far

Loved this episode, from start to finish. Closed some stories and opened up new ones. Good to see some people get it who should. My personal favorite of the first 2 seasons.

S2: Some small changes as part of an engaging season of twists and turns
bob the moo16 August 2020
I returned to this show on the back of the strong first season, even though I thought that the conclusion came over like it suddenly realized it needed to position everyone for a second season. That produced a downside in that moment, but it hindsight perhaps it was worth it because the second season comes out with good pace and plenty of twists and turns in the plotting. Although the historical context is lost on me, I followed most of it without problem, and the writing seems to have had some small tweaks to make it punchier and maybe more accessible. For example Rath's reliance on morphine seems less front and centre than it was, and where episodes in S1 would often end on stylish but downbeat moments, S2 produces much more in the way of surprises and cliff-hangers. The stylistic extravagance also seems a little dialled back.

All minor changes, but the whole thing continues to work on the big picture but also in the smaller threads involving the specific characters. The short season also comes to a satisfying ending too - bringing the season to a close in a better way than the first did, but yet still leaving plenty for that third season to get into. Some of this feels a little forced and convenient (not all the twists and turns feel natural within the narrative), but in the majority it works well and produces another enjoyable season.

This was a great series right up until this episode began

Warning: Spoilers
Everything in the first 15 episodes worked. That is to say, it wasn't necessary to suspend your disbelief very much. The opening scene of the final episode spoiled that. There's no way that Lotte could have survived being submerged in the the car in the lake that long. Then, later in the episode, Walter gets shot, falls off of a tank car on a train, then climbs up and has a gunfight with Rath. Wolter takes at least four more shots, and he's still going strong. But the clinker was this: Wolter uncoupled the lead cars of a moving train. Sorry, folks that cannot be done - not with the type of coupling system in use at that time. It just isn't possible. All of which makes me leary of the quality of season 3

Bitteres Ende

I was very dissapointed after warching the end of the Babylon Story. I was really a fan of all the parts before and I was very excited about how the story ends. Without spilling a spoiler: it was just surrealistic and absolutely destroying the charakters and links that it has been building up for 15 episodes. With artificially created drama and action scenes instead of using the ones that were already built and giving us unrealistic events and scenes that are so ridiculous it really destroyed the whole story I enjoyed so much before. Thanks again for 15 great episodes! In my view you did a great job with them. However-it would have been better to stop after 15 and leave it open ended instead of giving us this final.
