Plot Summary

During his pre-draft medical examination, a conscript tells his next neighbor in the queue an amazing story of war, but not of an ordinary war, the battle against... grasshoppers! The Homeric warfare took place in a village threatened by an army of insects. The villagers then decided to go slaughter them in the fields at night. But the grasshoppers are past masters at the art of camouflage and they remained annoyingly invisible. At long last a conscript caught sight of one and, summoning all his courage, managed to squash it. The trouble is that under the enemy was... the mayor's skull. One killed on either side, the losses were equal after all! Written by Guy Bellinger
