The comedy segment is Carnac the Magnificent. Harvey Korman first talks about Tim Conway, saying it is more comfortable than talking about himself. He also tells of being pulled over for drunk driving years before, but the officer did not ticket him - a reference to a recent incident Johnny had. He then talks about having Thanksgiving with his ex-wife and her family. He also mentions that he is appearing in a new Pink Panther film. Ronn Lucas does an excellent ventriloquist act using a sock puppet - he even blows up a balloon as the puppet sings. Then he continues the act using his bare hands. Jane Pauley first talks about keeping an early morning schedule - she arrives for the "Today" show at 5 a.m. She talks about growing up in the Midwest, and compliments Johnny on his recent special in which he returned to his boyhood home, as it reminded her of visits to her grandparents' farm as a child. Johnny asks if she has met resistance as a woman in the news business, but she says no, due both to the FCC's push for diversity and to expectations that it would boost ratings. There is also some discussion about women entering what had been all-male professions such as sportscasting.
