After Ross's single night of lusty weakness with Elisabeth, Demelza meanly treats him as if 'as bad as the rest', refusing her domestic and conjugal duties, even feeling entitled to attend a society party in his absence, flirt away and suggest being ready for adultery at least with customs captain McNeil, only to flee trough the window of their manor host Sir Hugh Bodrugan last-minute. Elisabeth holds off George, who already arranged their wedding, hoping for Ross, but realizing he's no available alternative agrees to become a Warleggan a month later, George surprisingly moves into the Poldark estate. When Ross's debtor prison friend repays a loan unexpectedly, that enables restarting the mine and finding a promising big deposit, which may turn him relatively rich. Dwight still contemplates a naval career switch.
