Good episode of the week, adding more depth to our characters
curtiskeren12 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is all about family which is a key theme for supernatural. On the face of it we have a classic ghost hunt episode but weaving throughout the whole story are the various family relationships for our regular main cast and how the different relationships are impacting on them. Great use of music and timing really let you get a feel for what they are going through. By the end of the episode I was feeling especially sorry for Crowley, willing him not to loose his fighting spirit and not to give in. Yet at the same time I wasn't hating Rowena, I was almost understanding of her need for revenge, and her consistent requirement not to let anything hurt her or go unpunished if it does. And again simultaneously I was cheering on Lucifer for not being the weak version we have seen so much of recently, and for being so calmly evil and in control. Its testament to good writing and great character depth that we can simultaneously cheer on 3 different characters in total conflict with each other. We also got to see a bit more of Mary, but didn't receive any of the in depth insight into her motivation that I have been hoping for. I still don't understand why she is doing what she is doing and so can't cheer her on in the way I can with our other antagonists. Hopefully there is more to come on that. A good solid episode that adds depth to our characters and sets us up for more to come.

Family drama

Mary... The show just wants petty conflict and i just don't care. The Crowley Rowena thing was fine.

Deep relationship. Play With Fire

Warning: Spoilers
Another ghost hunting story, but it connected again with unresolve matter with Gavin, consecuence of change the past things. Gavin looks fresh than previous.

What Crowley did to bring back Lucifer seems will backfire him, Lucifer so dangerous but it was I am waiting for too. And Kyle's escape to heartbeat me, she met Dagon, another prince of hell whom Ramiel told in female vessel, she going to take care of Kyle, at least to keep the baby alive. I'm glad in my corner heart.

At the end it talked about two families problems, The Winchesters and The Macleod. They on same difficult situation, reveal the truth sometimes hurt others. Finaly Mary told what she should told to the boys. And what happens between Rowena and Crowley, I hope Rowena can show her caring a bit to him. No one looks so gloomy lost in their own mind but Crowley. I like its play with fire song, matching with the story.

Decent episode which sets up story lines for the season
Kingslaay24 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A very satisfactory episode that involved a number of the key characters except for Castiel. Supernatural has been a show that has been fortunate to have numerous side plots developed over the years due to our heavy hitters many encounters and history. It is nice to bring back or cultivate on these side plots and weave it into the current season. Crowley's son Gavin definitely served that purpose and theme of family feuds. It was also nice to see the gorgeous Abaddon again and how she obtained Gavin . Rowena and Crowley have created even more bad blood between them with Rowena allowing Gavin's sacrifice for revenge against her son. Meanwhile Mary's involvement with the British Men of Letters is certainly causing friction with Sam and Dean. The only family relationship that ironically has no issues yet (albeit the child not being born yet) is Lucifer and his love for his unborn son, a heartbeat he feels. This supposedly keeps him going as Crowley unsuccessfully torments him.

While this episode was entertaining it will not be as memorable as the other episodes before it. However it lays the path for some interesting story lines in the season and series. We will have to see how the Winchesters deal with another Prince of Hell. Lucifer will also have a trick or two up his sleeve. Mary's dealings with the British Men of Letters also holds some promise. It is nice to finally have some story line for Mary as she has not made the splash and return we had hoped.

Exists to solve a plothole
CubsandCulture5 July 2021
The family spat of the MacLeods is amusing enough. I think this might be the most effective banter between Crowley and Rowena in the show's run. But this episode only exists to solve the Gavin time travel plot hole and it plot developments are too forced because of that. It feels umm unnatural.
