Good for What It Is, Though...

Warning: Spoilers
I have mercy on this episode of the final season only because I could tell the writers needed to fill information into the season's plot before continuing to the next episodes. The show is very typical of using flashback episodes to fill in the gaps of their seasons, as I began to notice their trend of utilizing that storytelling technique every season.

The twist of one of the characters to turn out as Matt's father was okay. It was alright in terms of execution. I just have mixed feelings about that.

The other twist of Seline's true identity as a siren and Sybil's sister was a little bit ridiculous for me. Same with the first twist, I also thought this one was alright too. However, what are the odds, out of anyone in this fictional universe, that the nanny has a connection to the antagonist? Did Seline become a nanny because she learned about Alaric's work with the cave or something with the tuning stick? I never understand that.

Finally, besides this episode, this whole show since the first season have always done dirty with Tyler Lockwood. To me, the show never compelled any interest in me to Tyler because he's always weak against these supernatural characters. I don't know. The show has not proven to me, even in this final season, that Tyler can take on many things without getting his butt kicked or even avoid death. Speaking of Tyler's death, I don't mind that happening. I do mind how his death scene was handled.

eternity of misery episode

This was a really great episode, it was cool finally seeing who matt's father was despite not caring much for matt, the flashbacks to the siren sisters was awesome and dark and added to the mythology so more which is always a good thing.

too rushed
chantallm15 November 2016
i think some scenes are just too rushed, i know the show is coming to an end and certain people have to die but killing Sarah Salvatore and Tyler was just cruel, Stefan spent so many years taking care and looking out for Sarah just for her to be killed i think Sarah deserved a happy ending what if she ended up with Tyler and they get away from all this stuff and they have a great life together that way the Salvatore/Lockwood bloodline stays alive. i think it would have been neatly wrapped up if it was done like that. also the whole kade thing being the Devil is a great storyline i feel like he is using the sisters to break free from Hell.

So over this stupid drama...
camibro-facebook21 June 2022
This season is the worst so far. So sick of these deplorable villains that tell their sob stories like that justifies their murderous rampages. There's literally no moments of fun or pleasure left here, just one long string of misery. I'm just waiting for someone to wise up and lobotomize Sybil.

Sybil is put in a room in the Armoury and hurt with the sound of the tuning fork. Ric says the books say she is supposed to have the lower half of a bird and she seductively replies the fortunateness of it not being true. Damon finds the round ball that Sybil needs. Matt shoots Damon and ties him up. He then saves his dad by feeding him vampire blood. Georgie is forced to lock Ric in the vault. The babysitter is the other siren and kills Georgie.
