Genuine fear
bkoganbing23 March 2017
An uncooperative witness and a perpetrator who seems to have vanished into thin air are the two elements that characterize this Blue Bloods story.

Bridget Moynahan has a really reluctant witness in Willis Stratton who has a genuine fear of retaliation from the crew of the gang leader he witnessed commit murder. She can't let him go and this brings about a rift between her and trusty investigator Steven Schirripa.

Donnie Wahlberg has a most elusive perpetrator. He and Marissa Ramirez respond to a robbery of a sporting goods store and find two employees shot to death and Patch Darragh lying on the floor with a bullet in his thigh. Darragh is a high school science teacher and as nerdy a guy as you could possibly find.

The truth behind this robbery is a pip though. You have to see it to believe it and also realize how desperate some people can become.

Warning: Spoilers
Frank refusing to attend the Police Union gala should have been explained more.

The other stories in this episode were terrific with a high school science teacher shot while in a store. The guy appeared to be your average nerd at every corner and I immediately suspected that there was more to him. This was confirmed when while hospitalized, he refused to open his bag.

Erin was a real Solomon here. When a man refuses to testify to what he saw during a murder, she holds him as a material witness. This means that he can be held in jail. Guess who is in the next cell from him? Erin knew what would happen and she played this one out brilliantly. This shows you the fear of people who are called upon to testify and will not do so for fear of retaliation or having to go into the witness protection program and move far away, therefore giving up your neighborhood, family and friends.

This episode was shown on April 29th.
