Very solid
Sleepin_Dragon17 January 2017
It's hard to believe that Silent Witness is entering its twentieth Series, we were promised a big and dramatic Anniversary season, and I think I'd said it got off to a very solid start. A story which I thought portrayed some of the darkest goings on in the world today in a fairly realistic and down to Earth way, uncomfortable viewing at times, but done in a way which makes you wonder how such things can be going on in 2017. Beautifully acted as always, the team work together effortlessly, now even Thomas feels like part of the team. Nikki once again takes on the role of freedom fighter/anti establishment heroine, and even though at times the story felt absurd (Why wasn't she arrested for the Hospital stunt?) they got away with it. Fortunately no gore and gratuitous violence in this one, hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Enjoyable, if dark matter.

World Crisis

I know it may sound like this episode has an agenda. The fact is it is merely presenting what is happening in our world. The issue of refugees being rounded up, jailed, and deported to places that are stain on the planet. Here, a suspected suicide, is really murder. There is human trafficking and extortion going on. These people are made promises and then left to die while the smugglers take the money. This is a solid beginning.

Warning: Spoilers
I have been watching Silent Witness ever since it started and was a big fan of the early series with Amanda Burton playing Dr Sam Ryan, back then it was a very realistic gritty drama that was very well acted, now with these later series they are becoming more and more far fetched and fall of cliches . The Nikki Alexandra character played by Emilia Fox has just become so annoying, in the earlier series she was a brilliant forensic who just got on with her job,now in these later series shes now turned into some sort of super heroine whos trying to save the planet and even going against the police and taking the whole case into her own hands, really.? In this episode she becomes distraught at the sight of 7 dead illegal immigrants who have been murdered and she is moved to tears and anger ,really? I mean come on this is the woman who in many previous episodes has had to work on brutally murdered teens, babies pregnant women even people she had made friends with who have been murdered in the most horrific ways, and she has cut them up with out a second thought and gone for a drink and meal afterwards. And yet the viewer is now supposed to believe that she is hurt by seeing 7 dead bodies of people she had never met before .To me this is a sign that she should be changing her job and go to work for the refugee crises .She is definetely in the wrong job now. Also the scene where she absconds with the illegal immigrant girl in the hospital just borders on stupiditety ,she hides her in a room and manages to plaster her broken arm in such a short space of time.Did they have the plaster already made up on the off chance? And why was she not arrested or charged with aiding and helping an illegal immigrant escape, I mean come on ,this series was brilliant before it started to try and up its game of trying to jump on the political bandwagon of trying hard to be liberal towards the immigrant crisis. Also some of the acting has become a bit over the top.

How can anyone give this one a good review

Let's get something straight first I'm a huge fan of Silent Witness but Deary Me the Acting in this episode is simply Atrocious. DCI Goodchild please go back to acting school or to your Parliament Constituency where you look more at home. Jesus Christ when you were locked in the Cupboard my 6yr old could have broken out quicker🙈Scottish guy on the roof with Jamal the Jumper you also need to join DCI goodchild and go back to acting school. Oh and Jamal jumping or pushed from that height would have definitely splattered any ones body to literally beyond recognition yet he's cleaned up with only a small stab wound visible. REALLY!!!

Saving Grace is Jack Nicki and Clarissa who always do a Sterling job.

Awful

Warning: Spoilers
Cliché, ridiculous and about as entertaining as a wet bog roll. Such a shame as the original core series was so good with original plots, great acting and stories that didn't require stupid twists or endless clichés. It really is getting tedious to see yet another series with Islam being used as a story board. The police are portrayed as the bungling and oafish with the Silent Witness pathologists doing all the crime work. It appears they can't even be bothered to set out a decent crime scene - just a tent, box and body inside - such attention to detail!. This is one viewer who won't be witnessing any more or this silent or otherwise.
