Legacy
Now, that is an episode I can get behind. This was a perfect example of a show scarcely using their villain to great results. Flash has consistently failed at doing this (somehow managing to have the last 5 episodes result in no plot progression and little involvement of Savitar), but Arrow has done a much better job at involving its lead villain, Prometheus, in just the right ways.
There was a lot going on this week, a big difference from last week, as Thea returned, Rene made progress in gaining custody of his daughter (somewhat), Derek Sampson returned to the streets (as did all of the criminals prosecuted by Chase), and Ollie went back to Lian Yu for the last time in the flashbacks. But really, the important thing was that Adrian Chase was captured and locked up in a cell. As expected, I think that was just another step in his master plan.
Of course, the team didn't seem to think so, as they were seen celebrating the win of imprisoning him "for good". Little do they know that William is seemingly kidnapped by Chase and there's plenty more of Chase's overall plan to come. Tonight his main goal was accomplished by tarnishing Robert Queen's legacy and ripping apart what Ollie and Thea thought of him as a person. It's a rather inconsequential task at this stage, because you know, he's dead after all, but the elaborate way in which he came to these conclusions was haunting to say the least. Delivering a corpse to Oliver's office? Yikes.
This was one of the first steps in this show giving us closure in the events of the past 10 seasons. I hardly thought we were going to get more Robert Queen in season 5, but I'm glad we did. Did anyone really think Chase was that upset that his father "disowned" him after he learned of his insanity? Even if that was an actual surprise on Prometheus' face, if Ollie killed him he would be proving exactly what Prometheus' has been trying to prove all along, that he's a killer.
Overall, I enjoyed the tension throughout and the progression made on this season's storyline (something CW has seemed to avoid over the last few months). I can't wait for the last two weeks.
