Six is about SEAL Team Six. A military counterterrorism unit. The action begins in 2014 in Afghanistan.
The leader of the unit Richard 'Rip' Taggart (Walton Goggins) has been deployed too long, he is too mixed up and jaded.
After a battle that goes wrong, where Afghan civilians seemingly killed by the terrorists the Seals were pursuing. Rip kills an American born enemy combatant after he had surrendered. His second in command Joe 'Bear' Graves (Barry Sloane) makes the decision to support Rip's actions.
Two years later. Rip is a private contractor in Nigeria for an oil company. Rip is captured by Boko Haram and it makes the news.
Now his former comrades become aware of his predicament. So does one terrorist who was there the night that Rip killed the enemy combatant.
Six wants to be a complex drama series but the writing is not good enough. It looks cheap and the soap aspect makes it dull.
The initial battle scenes had a video game aesthetic but this show is unlikely to sustain much action.
