Testament raised its entire budget through Kickstarter, with enough put aside after production to pay the majority of post-production and festival fees.
A small skeleton crew as well as actors Demi Castro, Rachel Comeau and Dave LePage made a trip up to tiny Notasulga, Alabama, to shoot for 2 1/2 days, months before the full production got under way. At the time, not all of the cast or crew had been set, nor had the money been raised for production. The group ended up shooting about 1/6 of what made up the finished film, and used the footage from the scenes set in the icy landscapes to help raise the money to make the rest of the film through Kickstarter.
Testament, the second feature film directed by Tim Ritter, also served to fulfill his thesis obligation for the Masters program at University of Central Florida. The first film, Moment of Truth, was finished within months of Testament.
