English version of "Snieg w Dolinie", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, was shortened and re-edited to a ~5 minute episode titled "Winter". It was originally broadcast in the UK in 1983 (as episode 23) on Central Independent Television, as part of its "Watch It!" strand of children's programming. Missing from the UK version:
- The original opening shots of the snowy Moominvalley and the bathing hut.
- Moomintroll wakes up in his bed, tries to wake up Moominmamma for the first time, looks at the clock and takes the lamp.
- Moomintroll eats under the table and offers crumbs to the invisible mice under the hutch.
- Moomintroll goes upstairs and looks the valley from the roof window. Also missing is the sequence where Moomintroll actually climbs out of the window and slides down from the roof.
- Additional shots of Moomintroll running after the little forest creature and slipping to the icy river.
- Additional shots of Moomintroll meeting the whistling Too-Ticky. Originally there are also shots of the colorful auroras over the sky.
- The first shots of the invisible mice (being visible at first) and the hut's interior are missing, along with the shots of the Too-Ticky's tobacco pipe, wooden spoons working on a soup, and the invisible mice placing the table cloth on the table and serving food (and clearing the table after the meal) for Too-Ticky and Moomintroll.
- Some shots are missing when the nervous Moomintroll returns from the bathing hut at night, including the shot of the owl and the black birds in the forest.
- The UK episode ends with the shot of Moomintroll falling back to sleep on the floor of the Moominhouse. Missing is the dream sequence of the Moominvalley in spring. The last shot of the original episode, where it's snowing in the Moominvalley, is also missing.
