Raising our sense of global HUMANITY
ihemu12 December 2016
This is something different without any doubt. Most of the movies in Bengali are based on Love and Revenge. This movie shows various social, rural, government problems. How each and every one of us are dealing with those problems each day. The script, dialogues, acting every thing is awesome. There is a bit lacking in the direction. But it should be negligible because in other sectors the movie shows it's class. Humanity is the main part of the story. Humanity is the spirit that ties us together as families, friends and fellows. The central character, a poor farmer from a remote Bangladeshi village facing challenges at every steps of this script, sometime from the bureaucracy, sometime from his peers and finally from the traditional mindset after receiving the dead body of an 'Oggatonama' – the unnamed.

More Than A Story
rezwanulhoque630 December 2016
The movie opens with a young boy in a village running with a hand- made plane propeller, fueled by innocent dreams of splendor. Beauty (played by Nipun) is a single mother who struggles to make ends meet and is the subject of prejudice due to her gendered position in society. Her escapist dreams of working abroad parallels the innocent visions of the young boy, unaware of the grim realities of a migration process enabled through nefarious means such as forged passports and bribes. Asir's (represented in the film with just a name and no actors) death and the search for his body becomes a catalyst in unmasking the sinister truths, and raises thought- provoking questions at the existential reality of passports and paper IDs preceding our identities. Additionally, the film offers some comic relief as well: Farhad, a police officer played by Mosharraf Karim delivers instances of hilarity as he struggles to make sense of what is happening around him, as well as his efforts to overpower Ramzan (Shahiduzzaman Selim) in his affair with Nipun. This is reminiscent of the clowning scenes within Shakespearean tragedies to offer an emotional vacation from the serious nature of the narrative. The film's strongest point is the novel plot, as well as the powerful acting performances delivered by Shahiduzzaman Selim's role as a corrupt manpower agent, and Fazlur Rahman Babu's convincing execution of a mourning father. However, the film does not offer a solution in its exploration of a dilemma that is close to home for many of the viewers. It ends on a defeating note as Nipun resigns to a life of hardship and injustice and gives up her dreams of traveling, and comes full circle as the film ends with Asir's father chasing his grandson who plays in a make-believe world of traveling abroad, like his father. It accurately depicts the perpetuating cycle of the expats' dreams of travel as well as the procedures many undertake in making them a reality.

I have not seen a better Bangla movie in recent time
rashed-eee0912 March 2019
This movie is hard to watch at times, yet it is a must watch. You will laugh at the hilarity of situations, you will tear up at the melancholy of human life. But at the end of it, you are bound to marvel at the cinematic genius of the movie. To sum it up, do give this movie a try. The makers of this movie deserve the respect.

The side of Human trafficking which no one knows! Reality is Cruel!
turin-alamin16 December 2016
In many developing countries like Bangladesh, exporting man power to the developed countries of middle east is very common. However, not everyone to wants to go can go legally. Unfortunately, they get involved in human trafficking with dealers. The dealers can make fake passport and fake identity to send them overseas. But in a foreign country many unexpected situation may arise, even death! Having a fake identity makes it difficult to return the corpse to the victim's family. This situation is depicted in this movie very clearly. The scripts, dialogues, direction and acting, everything was so good. The actors gave their best. The reality is more focused here rather than traditional Bangla movies.

A Movie which will make you cry!
Nebulous_Navid7 February 2017
the unnamed, left me puzzled, befuddled.Human trafficking has been a great cause of headache for the third World, Especially for Bangladesh. Poor souls look for their luck in desert of Middle East, leaving their dear ones at home. But sometimes, they fall in grave danger and fail to return. Their relatives, however, waits and waits and waits for them. But the waiting never ends! Fazlur Rahman babu proved again why he is called one of the best actors of this decade.Very few actors can do method acting perfectly.Late humayun faridi had that charm.Babu, raisul Islam asad have that too. Our Mainstream heroes have much to learn about method acting from them, specially Babu.Probably one of the best Bengali movies I have ever watched.

Everyone should watch this work by Tauquir Ahmed. Regardless of countries, race, and gender, anyone will be able to relate this story. Especially, political personalities and national decision makers should watch this film. It'll bring tears to your eyes. The film is the perfect portrayal of people's sufferings only because of a mistake made by dint of greed! Love and respect for Tauquir Ahmed!

Kudos to Bangladeshi Movie
Anik9913 June 2020
The film is a rollercoaster ride of emotions as the narrative takes the viewers down the dark, dismal course of corrupt immigration procedures, lost identities that lead to insignificant deaths and mourning. A commanding cast of Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Mosharraf Karim, Shatabdi Wadud, Nipun and Shahed Ali Sujon, does great justice in making it a striking story.

The truth of the society
maharousewagdi9 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Kifayet Uddin's son went abroad six month earlier but has no communication since last month. OC of the nearest police station has the news of a death of expatriate worker. He goes to the house to inform his guardian but found that person alive in another country. He finds Ramjan Ali responsible for this. He is connected human trafficking with fake passport who sent Kifayet's son in place of Wahab. Ramjan clears everything about this hustle and takes the responsibility of the corpse. Ramjan, Kifayet and Rahman bring the corpse to home but find a different corpse in the coffin.

The story tells about the society in Bangladesh.

Farhad's (Mosharraf Karim) character was a funny character. Kifayet Uddin's (Fazlur Rahman Babu) character was emotional throughout the movie. Ramjan Ali's (Shahiduzzaman Selim) character was negative. But sometime you will feel like that it is not negative.

The performance of Mosharraf Karim, Fazlur Rahman Babu and Shahiduzzaman Selim was impressive.

The cinematography, screenplay and editing was good.

This movie has 9 rating in IMDB. I would give 9 out of 10.

It's something different without a doubt.
mehedihasanmuzahid6 November 2021
The movie highlights various social, rural and government issues. How we each deal with those problems every day.

The screenplay, the cinematography, the dialogue are all great. Fazlur Rahman Babu Sir once again proved why he is called the best actor of this decade. Very few actors can do method acting perfectly. The late Humayun Faridi Sir had that fascination. Babu, Raisul Islam Asad sirs have that too. Our mainstream heroes have a lot to learn from them about method acting, especially from Fazlur Rahman Babu Sir.

Overall, this movie is one of the best Bengali movies I have ever seen.

No Story
aiobali1925 December 2021
As I've spent my childhood in a remote village of Bangladesh, I've witnessed these incidents myself. Human traffickers manipulate poor people to sell everything they have and go to middle east with illegal documents in search of fortune.

Its no Story, its real and its still happening.

A earnest work
suprabhattacharya19 August 2022
The social commentary could have been much more subtle but there is a certain earnestness in the film ,which works. The humorous approach of tames down the sensible issue the film deals with, a bit,but still the film works because of the non-pretentiousness.

Fazlur Rahman Babu!
r96sk3 August 2022
A bit of a hidden gem, this.

'The Unnamed', aka (the better) 'Oggatonama', is a nice little film out of Bangladesh. It's nothing necessarily sensational, but it is a film that has an idea and fully delivers on that front. The premise is a stark one and the emotion of the characters comes across strongly - I cared throughout.

Fazlur Rahman Babu is the main reason for the aformentioned. I seriously dug his performance in this, as noted I felt every emotion that I was intended to feel and his showing is the clear reason for that. Elsewhere, I also enjoyed seeing Shatabdi Wadud, while the likes of Mosharraf Karim and Shahiduzzaman Selim make for solid supports.

The plot is, of course, very believable given the many similar stories I've heard down the years from across the world, you only have to look at what's gone on behind the scenes of the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup. It's messed up! There's a sequence of 'fobbing off' scenes near the end of this flick which kinda sum up the situation perfectly.

I wasn't terribly far away from giving this a 9/10 rating in truth. 8/10 is about right though, fwiw.

Here's your religion: humanism
sadint253 March 2024
A great message was shown at the end of the movie and shows how the poor have always the greater heart among us. The movie was so real and the casting: oh my god, phenomenal. Specially fazlur rahman babu(he's the man) and shahiduzzaman selim are impeccable.

The story is about a unnamed dead body that got exchanged with another expatriates name arriving in Bangladesh who died working in the middle east as there used to be a lot of human trafficking back then. The movie captures every detail of judicial system of bangladesh along with every human mind related to working with that dead body.

Left me speechless and emotional for a while after I've finished it Watch it!

Brilliant
intehab78629 July 2017
It's a very entertaining, educative and thought provoking movie. A good story based on a very exceptional fictional plot. Tauqir Ahmed, the writer cum director has given his best in this movie. This is probably his best work so far. The way he has written the story is just brilliant. His direction was also praise-worthy. Character building in this movie was superb, except the character of 'beauty'. I didn't like this character at all. Besides, performance of Nipun (as beauty) was not up to the standard. Except her, all the artists did their best and acted very well. Especially Shahiduzzaman Selim and Mosharraf Karim was just phenomenal. Shatabdi Wadud was perfectly suited in the role of local thana OC. His performance was charming. Overall, it's a very entertaining movie with some important social messages. Strongly recommended to watch.

According to me, Story- 7.8/10 Acting- 9/10 Cinematography- 8/10 Direction- 8/10 Music-6.5/10 Overall- 8/10
