Wow! Just Wow!

This is a beautiful episode because it brings everyone back in from all of the Matthews to Shawn and Katy to Stuart and Jennifer Minkus to Turner and Feeny and even Harley. It was amazing seeing all of the characters in one room and as important as Topanga's decision is my favorite moments are when Shawn and Jon see each other and hug because while they are hugging it seems like Jon doesn't want to let go of Shawn and you can see he is truly thrilled that Shawn is finally happy and than of course the reveal that Shawn wants to adopt Maya and the hug that followed this revelation and Maya calling Shawn Dad because you can see how deeply that touched Shawn and how happy it made Maya.

Warning: Spoilers
I grew up watching Boy Meets World. While that show had its goofy, absurd moments, it was still firmly grounded in real world problems. That's what made the show great. That show's finale was a culmination of all of that. The cast saying goodbye to the world, and teacher, that taught them so much. It was a finale that, no matter how much you watch it, is still an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.

Fast forward to the series finale of its successor, Girl Meets World. This last season was already disappointing, and clearly they stopped trying once they found out the show would end. And this finale, ironically, is a culmination of that mentality.

The whole finale is centered, just like BMW was, around saying goodbye. Topanga gets offered a job offer in London, which would mean her, Cory, Riley and Auggie would all have to say goodbye to their friends and loved ones in New York.

To the cast's credit, they try. There is a build up to that big goodbye. They even brought in every original BMW cast member they could get their hands on, including both Morgans. All of them are telling them it's a good thing they're going. It's the logical next step in their lives.

Riley and Lucas "kind of" break up, because of this goodbye. I say "kind of", since they were never really together in my eyes, since they barely even held hands since they said they'd be a couple. Riley and Maya even say goodbye, and this is heartbreaking to watch. Everything is leading up to that big final goodbye. Maybe a scene where Cory says goodbye to them, as their "Feeny", so to speak. That would've been a perfect finale, and a perfect nod to the original series' finale.

But no, all of a sudden, Topanga decides they don't go to London after all. So basically, the season finale is them saying... absolutely nothing happens, and we just end the show. This is literally how the episode ends.

Talk about anti-climactic.

The show in itself had some very touching moments, some very bad ones too, but all in all it was entertaining enough. This finale, however, is a slap in the face of everyone who watched both shows from start to finish.

What an awful message for kids!

Never leave who & what you know, pass up opportunity & adventure whenever they present themselves, because saying goodbye is hard. I see this theme all too often & it's disgusting. Our ancestors, who knew they would probably never see the family, friends & places they left again, got on crowded boats & risked everything to come to a land of opportunity, and their descendants won't move to another state, much less another country, because "wahhh", change is scary and hard.

Horrible ending to an otherwise entertaining show.
