A defense lawyer would not be allowed to stand behind, and walk around a member - a juvenile, nonetheless - of the prosecuting team, which would be considered intimidation.

It's far-fetched that young Bethie would left unattended in the waiting room while Teena is in the ICU.

One cannot drive a vehicle to the edge of Niagara Falls, on either the Canadian or US side.

In the end credits, a section is spelled "speical thanks" instead of "special thanks".

At the party, a U.S. flag is on the wall hanging vertically. When displayed against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. Therefore, the flag is displayed backwards. While it is true that the flag is incorrectly displayed, it does not constitute a Goof as many people are unaware of the rules to properly display the flag. This likely was intentional to reflect the ignorance of the party-givers.

(at around 5 mins) Someone states that John has twenty years in on the local police department. The movie is set in NY state near Niagara Falls, yet when he gives his card to Bethie (at around 1h), the area code she recites for his cell phone is 706 which is a Georgia area code. However, while area codes reflect the location of land lines, area codes for cell phones only indicate the location where the person first obtained a cell number. John may have lived in Georgia before joining a police force in New York.

In the beginning shootout and crash, both vehicles have white NY plates. The responding police unit has yellow (Georgia?) plates. Actually, while the current version of NY plates has a white background, the former version, which is still in widespread use, has blue letters/numbers on a yellow background.

It seems off the police lineup chart measurements are in six increments: 3'6", 4', 4'6", 5', 5'6", etc. However, that is not atypical, as lesser increments, indicated by the unmarked lines on the scale, can be easily interpolated.

The glass that Teena drinks from before smashing it at the bar, is clearly dirty and unwashed as she holds it up to the light. However, this likely indicates that the bar hires careless or incompetent employees.

In the motel scene, Detective Dromoor wants it to appear as a suicide. Fritz, the fourth rapist, is clearly right-handed because he signs the suicide note with that hand, while Dromoor shoots him in the left temple. A sharp forensic expert would detect the inconsistency and immediately know that the cause of death could not have been suicide.

The police cars have no unit ID numbers.

In the 73rd minute outside the courthouse one sees the Georgia state flag. This movie is set in New York.

(at around 1h 13 mins) The shots of the outside of the courthouse are from an Atlanta courthouse, not a NY state courthouse where the trial would have been. The monument is identifiable as the one in DeKalb county.

It's odd that Jimmy's friends and co-defendants did not react to his death. Marvin and Lloyd did not act rattled or even bring up Jimmy's name at their meeting with their lawyer, or question how the death might affect the defense--it could look bad that one of the accused turned up committing another crime (assault, and attempted assault of a police officer).

In the bar, the bartender mentions that Bethie was 6 years old at the time of her father's layoff from work 4 or 5 years ago (making her 10 or 11). A few minutes later Teena mentions 4th grade math, making Bethie either 9 or 10. She also had stated Bethie is 10 (thus confirming the bartender's remarks about the time line and Teena's about 4th grade math). However, her grandmother (at around 25 mins) says Bethie is 12.

In the police station, Bethie is instructed about the line-up and its order, one through seven from her right to left. When she begins to identify suspects, the officers reverse the line-up order, from left to right.
