- TriviaActors Burt Reynolds and Jack Weston, who had previously co-starred in the police comedy-drama Fuzz (1972), were among those appearing on this show to promote their new movie to be released the August of the following year, Gator (1976), which for Reynolds would be his first film credited as director. Also appearing on this show was the mayor of Savannah, Ga., at that time where much of the movie was filmed, John P. Rousakis, who was also given a role in the film as a motel manager. Also appearing, the film's second unit director and stunt coordinator Hal Needham, who had served in those roles working with directors of other Burt Reynolds films up to that point, would two years later start his own reign as a top action director with another Reynolds film, Smokey and the Bandit (1977) and continuing to direct the actor in Hooper (1978), Smokey and the Bandit II (1980), The Cannonball Run (1981), Stroker Ace (1983) and Cannonball Run II (1984). Also on the show was stuntman Dick Ziker who had a credited role in the film as a deputy. And perhaps the main reason so much of the show was dedicated to this upcoming movie, host Mike Douglas was himself cast in the film in the role of the Governor. Co-hosting this episode was Mike Connors, and the guest singer was Jack Jones, neither of whom was associated with "Gator."
