A nice spin on Ted talks, Mr Weyland is truly a evil genius. A good watch for fans of the Alien franchise.

Best. TED Talk. Ever.

Guy Pearce delivers a strong performance as Peter Weyland in this Prometheus prologue. Personally, this clip was one of my favorite parts in the movie and it wasn't even in the movie! it was released online before the release of Prometheus in 2012. it would've been nice to see this in the movie, but at least we got it anyways.

it takes place in 2023, roughly a century before the original Alien movie and about 70 years before the events of Prometheus.

Prometheus was a decent movie (maybe 8/10), but this was amazing. It doesn't fail to captivate the viewer with Weyland's strong speaking abilities. It intrigues the viewer into the story and is by far the best prologue released for Prometheus. It sets up the movie well, and gives the viewer some background behind Weyland and his motivations.

A longer version of the speech was released on the Prometheus Blu-ray, under the special features section.

As I said, it would've been cool if this was actually in the movie, but it is still an amazing piece of work coming from Ridley Scott (not to mention Pearce's great performance).

Tries to be very impactful, but ends up very forgettable

Warning: Spoilers
"The Peter Weyland Files: TED Conference, 2023" is a really long title for a really short film as this one only runs for 7 minutes. It was made back in 2012, so it has its 5th anniversary this year and the character you see in here (played by British actor Guy Pearce) is the one from "Prometheus" and "Covenant". Director is Luke Scott who worked on other prestigious projects already and the script is by Emmy winner Damon Lindelof. The entire thing is basically a monologue by the title character with a gigantic audience listening to his words. The core messages are that he wants to be indulged by the masses and that humans are the new gods. There sure feels a megalomaniac tendency to the protagonist here and this adds nicely to the villain vibe I got watching this. Anyway, the contents of the speech did not really impress me and Pearce also had a bit of a tendency to go over the top at times here. But this may also not necessarily have been his fault, but the fault of the script and the way it took itself so serious, which was shown to us by the oh's and ah's from the crowd. As a whole, I'd really only recommend this to the very biggest fans of the recent works by Ridley Scott as I felt this short film adds nothing to the movie(s) while coming equally short to make an impact as an individual achievement. Watch something else instead.
