Emotional depiction of a family dealing with grief. Everyone deals in their own way and this short film concentrates the emotion and proves you don't need 2 hours and expensive CG to build emotion in your viewers. The symbolism at the end was perfectly portrayed! This was very well done.

Coming to grips with the loss of a child

This film tackles a hard topic: a family's coming to grips with the loss of a child. It doesn't miss a beat. The plot, dialog, direction, acting, setting, lighting, staging are outstanding. And the music is perfect as it supports the plot and the emotions involved in grief and making peace with it. It is no wonder that this film won so many awards for so many aspects. All of the parts of it work together and touch your soul.

I saw this film at a festival and it is one of those films where you see emotion expressed so intensely it creates a ball build up in your throat trying not to cry. Death sucks but it is accurately depicted in Heather's Painting. I value films like this that shine a light of time of darkness because as humans we all experience emotions, both good and bad.
