Could Go Much Deeper
crimeagainstcreation14 October 2022
The Great Apes is an important and informative documentary, but it could go much deeper into the complex lives of our closest animal relatives. Less than 40 minutees is far from enough for this, and the film is obviously meant as a fundamental introduction of the general topic. The basic intention is perhaps to reach out to school kids, for teachers to use the film as a tool in learning about these animals. Regardless, it's most suitable for 'beginners', though there are certain highly interesting sections, such as the Japanese research project on Chimpanzee intelligence. However, there isn't any time to go deeper into this matter, and the viewers get to know about the highly important factors such as human threats to apes' habitats, as well as some of the wonderful conservation projects. Nevertheless, it also would be great to know more about the apes themselves.
