A plot point is the finding of three fingerprints with a fourth, the ring finger, being absent. The husband is later considered a suspect due to having a bandage on his ring fingertip. In any homicide investigation within a building, fingerprints of residents or common occupants are taken to eliminate them from any prints from persons that had not legitimately been in the building. Accordingly, the husband's prints would have revealed immediately whether the questioned prints were his.
The narrator states Alma straddles America's first Interstate, Highway 1. Alma is located at the intersection of US 1/US 23 and Georgia route 32. US 1/US 23 is not and never has been an interstate highway. Alma is roughly 60 miles west of Interstate 95. Additionally, both US 1 and US 23 were designated at the same time in 1926.
