Nobody would be prepping any vegetables for canning on the porch with dust blowing in the food.
Travis has a rope tied around Stover's neck and he ties the other end tightly to the back of a wagon. As he lets go of the rope to head toward Stover, the rope loses tension, but it is still tight on Stover's neck.
Trains in 1880 did not have walk through passage between them. Gangway connections did not start until 1889-90.
The song playing in the saloon is called, Fig Leaf Rag. The movie is set in the 1880s that song wasn't published until 1908.
