The main characters have exactly the same conversation word for word twice (about the female lead's home town and her not having anyone past thanksgiving) in two different locations within 5 minutes of each other.
Young is stopped by the Sheriff, who is driving a City of Dover police car and is taken to the Dover Police Department. Dover, NH is located in Strafford County, so the Sheriff would have been in a county Sheriff's vehicle and taken him to the Sheriff's office.
Riley is hired and never corrects the mistake involving her last name. Employers must complete numerous forms (notably for income tax) to employ a person in the US, so she would never have made it past the human resources department.
While virtually all the workers are wearing safety glasses, Mr. Young, his assistant, and the plant superintendent are not. This is a big, big OHSA no-no in the States. But perhaps, having been
filmed in Canada, it was, and is, allowed.
The story is said to take place in Dover, NH. In the scene just after the opening of the winter carnival, a road sign is visible showing US-20 West. US-20 does not pass through New Hampshire.
