Just incredibly wonderful.

Wonderful show. Loved the whole thing. Costumes. Dances. Music. Singing. Dialogue. Lighting. Nostalgia.

Have seen several versions of this show, and never get tired of any of them, including the film versions. Evocation of another era. 1927 original show. Between the two 20th century world wars, but evoking a time period of perhaps pre-or-post-American Civil War??

At any rate, a fine performance. Minimalistic sets. Were there any? I don't recall. Maybe a table or two were on stage.

I saw this show last fall. I do remember some wall muralistic projections of actual boats, wharves, people, etc.

This is a great ensemble piece. It was breathtaking to watch.

Disappointment

While the music is well sung, the acting is poor for the most part. Even Jane Alexander can't save this and Fred Willard was never a real actor. Vanessa is about the only one who comes off convincingly. Of course there are no sets and the staging and choreography are dull and routine. Totally unimaginative concert performance.
