BEST EPISODE (so far)
Best so far. Still busy binge"ing" but my eyes teared up. Well done creators, well done. Im tempted to skip to Season 5 for a sneak peak. I wish he's her father!

Keep Your Friends Close And Your Enemies Closer
Harun_Karali15 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Red has put his plan into motion, Giving it the traction it needs by pushing the Cabal into a corner. Seeing no other alternative, The Cabal finally giving in, Agreeing to the terms of surrender. But what's interesting is, that wasn't the highlight of the episode, Red joining the Cabal, In what I can only assume is to keep them close, just in case. Playing with dynamite can be dangerous, And in this case it most certainly is.

Just when I think I've wrapped my mind around Reddington's character, The writers add another layer to his persona, Keeping him bleak and sophisticated as ever.

The urban dictionary defines "ballsy" as
A_Different_Drummer5 February 2016
... an Adjective for someone willing to take risks.

My many reviews of this series already indicate it is one of my favorite shows and Spader's performance is a classic, in the same category for example as Falk in Columbo.

But what I especially like about the 2-part Director set is that it solves the ongoing problem of the "dual story arcs" in a novel way -- by scrapping the usual formula and going full out Mission Impossible.

Are there flaws? Only in terms of plausibility. The two ballsiest shows on the air now are Blacklist and Banshee and, as crazy as the writers in Blacklist are, the writers in Banshee are crazier.

However the Bankshee team manage to be crazier and yet more plausible at the same time. That is my only critical comment.

As pure entertainment, this two parter was a 10.

But plausibility is an issue.

Great episode and huge disappointment

Warning: Spoilers
I normally don't write reviews, but this time I felt like I had to. spoiler underneath.

So the whole episode with the plan and with the Cabal and the twist in the end with Red was truly amazing. This shows just keeps surprising me.

Now to the disappointing part. I watch many US TV shows, but one of the worst things I see in US TV shows and movies is the lack time they put in copying another country/culture. In this case about the Netherlands, but I see it with many other countries as well. I mean I cannot remember how many times US shows/movies were talking about people from the Netherlands and then spoke German (Movie Eurotrip part in Amsterdam is a good example).

In this episode I even heard non-existing words... But also, the ''director'' was falling through a wooden house (never even seen such a house in the Netherlands before) and the oldest of televisions from 1990 was showing in the house. I mean why, we even have better and stronger (stone) houses than the wooden ones they have in the US. I mean why act superior while you are doing worse than we are. They really need to put more attention and detail to other cultures. I understand it's fun to exaggerate a bit, but please, please pay more attention to detail, a simple online search can even tell the dumbest of people how a country is like.

Great episode
gjenevieve26 January 2016
I was happy to see that some of the story lines were finally being wrapped up. We have been on the edge of our seats for quite a while now trying to see how they would resolve the mess with Elizabeth Keen. It was resolved in a fairly satisfying manner. How they will go forward with her character is something I am anxious to see.

They did a really good job of wrapping up a few things. It was even quite tense in a couple of spots. So intense that I found that I was holding my breath. It was a very exciting episode.

I didn't like one spot near the end. It shows something happening in another country and the whole thing just looked fake and was not at all believable. The writers failed on that.

But, overall, it was great. The very end has now left us with another mystery regarding Reddington. I am looking forward to seeing how this story line unfolds.

"Everybody likes apples"

Much like the Berlin story arc, everything came together in these episodes; all the Blacklisters appointed during this season functioned as an irreplacable cog in a machine that is the master plan to exonerate Elizabeth. The result is a wonderful two-parter which was not only exciting, but also very fun to watch.

Many of this can be credited to the outstanding interaction between Spader and Strathairn; their outstanding performances, up to the tiniest nuances (such as Peter's face when Hitchin mentioned his name in her statement) make this episode one of the best in the series. The Director was a great character and antagonist, and I will miss hating him (the character, not the actor, who is amazing).

As a Dutchman I cannot help but comment on the language and portrayal of the country at the end of the episode; that TV is probably older than I am, and some of the clothing is from over a century ago. The odd thing is that the TV, despite its very poor Google Translate headline, actually has fairly accurate spoken Dutch, whereas the actors themselves sound nothing like us. It's weird they know how to do it (especially considering there is at least one Dutch actress on their payroll), but decide to do it like this.

It did not really bother me as I primarily remember the scene for being hilarious, and it definitely did not hinder my enjoying of this episode (hence the 10 star rating regardless), but just wanted to mention it.

Can't Complain
Hitchcoc15 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Since this was not the final episode of the third season, I sort of assumed she wouldn't get off. With all the charges, it would take months to sort them all out; but, then, this is far from a realistic show. Don't get me wrong. I love it. So the task of Red and his people is subterfuge, creating a new sixth floor to trick the bad guys and isolate the director. Then, on board the plane, the director gets to see the writing on the wall. He can't slip out of the arrogance of his paper tiger position. Anyway, there is a plea deal where Liz can no longer be a recognized agent. Of course, now she is unfettered and free to work outside the law.

Saved By The Bell

Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with a meeting between Red, The Entire Task force and Marvin Gerard. Red told the entire story he planned to capture and defeat The Cabal. Liz has been brought to the court. Cooper poisoned Lynda, Peter his wife. Liz trial is today. Red and his team set a trap for The Director, they ubducted him. Red brought Peter on a Venezuelan plane, the Venezuelan government arrested Peter and bring him to The Hague were he goed on trial in the courtyard. Liz almost got executed but the guards arrested the assasin. Laurel Hitchin made a deal with Red, Liz has a deal and is innocent except the murder on Tom Connolly. Red dropped Peter "The Director" trough a ceiling he died instantly. We see that Red owns The Cabal to have a case. Really good episode of The Blacklist Season 3, part 1 of The Director was in my opinion a better episode.

it started great but their attention to even the slightest of detail is bad

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this season. It is different with agent keen trying to clear her name it made everything very interesting and at the end she made it which is fantastic. But now the real reason I am writing this review and that is the terrible acting of those so called dutch people. First of all yes they used some dutch words but it sounded oh so fake I mean is it really so hard to hire some dutch people. And then the house the director fell true at the end... Almost all the people in the Netherlands have stone houses next to that the clothes some of them where wearing look like something out of the 19th century. I really liked the episode till that point which shows how little they even try to make something look realistic. They really failed on this one.

Disappointing ending of a nice episode
cor-59-76681010 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This episode(and the previous) started out quite nice closing down on the truth and the new strategy in order to disable the CIA President I really love the acting of Raymond Reddington. This man really loves to play games and is really good in it too. However the ending was terrible and an insult to The Netherlands by the screenwriter. First of all, next time you try to impersonate the Dutch language, hire a couple of real Dutch actors (aren't that hard to find). The other thing, people from The Netherlands don't live like a bunch of Neanderthals anymore. In fact we are one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. And last but not least, how do your throw a man from an Airbus without crashing the airplane?
