Continuity

Synopsis says story is set in 1868, but on Rev. McCord's tombstone his date of death is shown as 1870.

Factual errors

The movie is set in 1870. When the Marshall first draws his sidearm, it's a Colt Peacemaker, which didn't start production until 1873. Then later, when he kills the two bad guys in the mine, he's using Navy Colts, which were proper period pieces. Then later, he's back to wearing the Peacemakers.
Rubber soles on McCords boots as he kneels down near end of film.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Priest gets killed at the time of writing a letter to is brother. He gets killed and the whole place burns down. His brothers arrives in town with a copy of the very same letter.

Revealing mistakes

When Reb sets the church afire, it is fully furnished with pews, fixtures and a pulpit. Later when the burning walls of the church collapse, it is revealed to be completely empty.
When Reb shoots the thug in the saloon, the harness wire can be seen that pulls him backward.

Miscellaneous

Numerous misspellings and formatting errors in the tail credits.

Anachronisms

Set in 1870, however, a jet con trail can be seen in the sky behind the Stratton house.
Pretty sure they didn't have conventional hay / straw balers back in 1870 . Lots of bales scattered around the streets .
The US Marshal discovers a mine which the Mayor is using to store arms and money. He later tells Melissa that the Mayor has stored TNT in the mine. The film is set in 1868. TNT was first prepared in 1863, but was not recognized as an explosive until 1893.

Character error

Synopsis describes Thomas McCord as a priest; however, the character is clearly a Protestant minister or itinerant preacher, and the church is clearly not a Catholic or Episcopal church.
