Warning: Spoilers
From the beginning, Slave, the guy with the social conscience, seems to be crass and unpredictable. At the conclusion of this episode, we are given information that was withheld the day Jesse disappeared, and Slave and Pru were in the middle of it. There's a lot going on, including the discover of the same man brought in for questioning, in the apartment of the dead escort. He ends up in the hospital, when, during a chase, a man hits him with a big wrench. Because this guy was thought to be a possible adult Jesse, the parents are brought in. No identification. Great tension is building. Pru is popping pills like crazy. There is so much guilt in the air. Coben is weaving a very good story. I have a feeling (being a suspicious mystery reader) that the obvious is too easy. Another element is the death of the record producer and the discovery of the three women who may have been held captive for five years. More to come.
