"Ayúdame a pasar la noche" (2017, Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica) directed byJosé Ramón Chávez and written by Claudia Sainte-Luce has been premiering at several known Latin American film festivals.
Chávez's film stars Hernán Mendoza (who recently appeared in Hollywood's 2018 film release, "Gringo" with stars, Joel Edgerton and Charlize Theron) as Rodrigo, head of a Mexican middle class family. The film is set in Mexican suburbia and starring Elena de Haro as his wife, Patricia and Carlos, his son played by Mexican cinema newcomer, Luis Amaya.
It is a drama on a struggling family, dealing with a many issues from gambling addictions, the stress of a wedding plan in progress to puberty. There is comedic relief brought forth by the playful nature of character devlopment, Rodrigo does a good job of centralizing the film's narrative, written very well by Sainte-Luce.
