Review Porgies & Bass

Warning: Spoilers
Porgies & Bass is a well-directed short film showing us that fishing can also be a clash of cultures. The story is well-developed. It has a funny side to it despite the pretty heavy message that lies beneath the surface. The main actor is a perfect incarnation of a fisherman that basically doesn't care for anything but his fish. The camera work is good, and the photography is coherent throughout. The location provides the opportunity to offer some aesthetic shots. The editing is fluid. The short does well to create tension through the visual and the sound, and it all brings the viewer towards this well-constructed "duel" at the end. All in all it makes for a very enjoyable short film that despite a certain comic side to it offers a reflection that goes further than just fishing.

a clash

Warning: Spoilers
A cultural clash around fishing. A man in risk to lost his life in the effort of cath the fish. An old one refuged in his selfish purpose. The fury of the first, his revenge and the reaction of the other. The knife against baseball bat and the look of a child as witness. A beautiful film for each aspect. Seductiv and profound honest, realistic fresco of near reality.
