They Get the Job Done

Three kids are transported to Biblical settings through some sort of time machine or something.

I guess they're kids, at least. One of them dresses and acts like a kid but the other two act more like adults. Anyway, it's pointless and they're completely irrelevant to the stories - they usually just get in the way with annoying and/or bizarre behaviors while the Biblical characters don't seem to mind that some spastic oddly-dressed youths have dropped into their world. The silk road did bring a lot of weird riff-raff up and down the Middle East I guess, though, so I guess it wouldn't be that outlandish to see weirdly-dressed people around.

The animations are very well done and the art is excellent, which is surprising for Hannah Barbara. I have the impression of their cartoons as having running represented by the top half of a character's body on a wheel and such cheap designs.

Very simplistic and dramatic but it gets the job done, if quickly. The character development is more choppy than the animation, really, and it's more along the lines of this or that character looking regal or malevolent and then behaving true to appearance. Considering that The Bible covers lots of these plots in like 3 paragraphs, I wouldn't have expected to complain about lack of plot development in an animation based on it, but it's glaring here.

I used to watch this as a very young child and not only did I learn a lot about the Bible, but I must have enjoyed it as I still remembered quite a bit of them upon rewatching.

Great entertainment? No. It's supremely simplistic. But when compared to other low-grade Christian productions it's the best you're going to get.

Honourable Mentions: Adventures from the Book of Virtues (1996). This TV show was similar in tone and style to The Greatest Adventure except it actually told cohesive moral messages whereas Biblical stories.... You really have to stretch your imagination to get any reasonable life lessons out of them.
