"Death Is A Process"
Harun_Karali6 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Red Strikes again, This time striking at the heart of the Cabal, putting the director in his cross hairs. Everyone is trying to get Liz exonerated. Tom on one angle, Red on another and Ressler who seems to be conflicted, I mean it's only a matter of time before he makes the decision that will define his character.

Looks like Tom's gambit paid off, But at what cost? Tom might have started out as a simple character, But I think we are only starting to scratch the surface to what Tom is willing to do for Liz, It makes me wonder, Can Red and Tom work out their differences, It doesn't seem likely, Then again we have seen stranger things happen in this series.

The cold never bothered me anyway

Creepy sci fi overtones (however preposterous), races against the clock, a hint of Mr and Mrs Smith, a dash of Fight Club ... all for a string of plot advancing revelations and strong performances. Definitely a show firing on all cylinders.

Pretty much perfection for a single episode ..
A_Different_Drummer6 November 2015
Got to give credit to this production team. Just one season ago, they had only two arcs to work with (the Blacklister of the week, and the mysterious ever-perplexing Liz backstory) and maybe (no complaints from me) those were wearing a bit thin.

Now they have at least a half dozen plates spinning the air, just like those old acts on the Ed Sullivan show. And, joy of joys, they all work.

This episode is not merely great, it is also subtle. The only clue you will get of how entertained you actually are is that by the 30 minute mark you will think you have seen an hours worth of action, and you will not believe there is more still to come.

And keep your eye on Ryan Eggold. I was very unhappy when, in an earlier arc, he was "banished" and seemed to be leaving the show. This guy is mesmerizing. Prediction: someday he will have his own series.

Crispin Crandall meets Red; Tom Shines *Spoilers*
warrenf_peace6 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This was a terrific episode, the best this season I'd say. It had me exhilarated throughout, unsure where it would turn at each fork. Red shows his brilliance at strategy, the FBI team was solid, and Tom (or is it Jacob?) - what a surprise! I can't spoil this episode but let's say now I really understand why Tom was chosen. This guy must have been an ex-Navy Seal, spy or something - I would surely like to know his upbringing, which so far has been a bit opaque. But I'm very pleased with the writing, and where the story is going. And the newer characters, like Edi Gathegi's Mr. Solomon, or Fisher Stevens' Marvin Gerard are really great characters. Great casting agent!

In this episode, Liz doesn't have much to do, which is fine as she's been the focus for far too long; and I love it when Red gets to gloat, and the Director has to squirm. I'm still looking forward to seeing more of Dembe, as he's still a bit too quiet, but that silent strength is the role I suppose. Ressler and the FBI team don't have much to do, but when they do, they are solid, and Ressler is fearsome! I liked the whole Crandall sub plot, and the sets of his lab were state of the art! Glad they are making enough money to do this show right. Can Spader do anything crappy? His entire career has been a success - he has the golden gift!

I hope they get 5 years, and they end it soundly (unless they want to keep it going- the chemistry is quite strong). Talented thespians get bored, as do all creative people who need new challenges to keep things interesting. As a springboard to greater pastures, I hope all the cast members continue to get work that allows them to shine as in The Blacklist - my favorite series this year.

Great Situations
Hitchcoc15 November 2022
The formula is simple. Clear Liz's name and you will be left alone. But that director is so full of ego, he can't do it. Of course, he's hooked up with the next echelon of evil. The principle set of events here revolve around a guy who is trying to find a cure for death, using the old cryonics model. He has kidnapped and froze a raft of important scientists in varying sophisticated fields of endeavor. Then there is Tom who is about as formidable as one can be, looking for Liz and getting himself in the middle of some really evil dude. They run a fight-to-the-death boxing thing. To save his own skin and move to the next level, he has to kill a guy.

Nice stock footage of Edinburgh Airport.
aelthric14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have had reason to fly in and out of Edinburgh Airport many many times so imagine my surprise to see stock footage of Edinburgh Airport being used as the location of Sir Crispin Crandalls Cryonics Warehouse.

Double my surprise at an FBI Armed Response Unit kicking in doors at the supposed site that was shown (Edinburgh Airport in case you missed it the first time around).

I would have enjoyed this episode a whole lot more if they hadn't used stock footage of Scotlands most iconic airport (Which anybody familiar with would instantly recognise the pepper pot control tower) to represent some place within the FBI's remit and Jurisdiction eg. The USA...

Otherwise a thouroughly enjoyable episode hence the 6/10 rating.

The Biggest Plot Hole Ever...
mkalinsky-18 November 2015
I will start this by saying I love this show and turn my brain off to the obvious ripoffs from other series like 24 as much as humanly possible. That being said this episode has a plot hole you can fly an A380 through. Crispin Crandall supposedly lives on a plane that according to Aram has only landed 30 times in 3 years. This being a plane that supports a surgical staff, cryogenic storage tubes, and of course bathrooms for all these people. REALLY? Please for the love of God.... Can the writers use the break that is coming to consult new source material like the Bourne movies or just take the show into the X Files realm already?

Getting unrealistic
oldguy754720 March 2024
So I just started binge watching this series and up until the Atorney General was killed it was somewhat in the realm of reality but now, not so much. I would hope that in the real world the director of the CIA wouild not concentrate all of his/her efforts to finding one person. That part makes no sense to me. It is bad enough that the head of the task force is doing it but the head of the CIA come on. That being ignored I do enjoy the show with all of the twists and turns. Early in the series I used to think that Liz was the most beat up and shot up agent ever and now on the run she is still the target.
