This episode was not as funny as the first two, but what it lacked in stomach hurting laughter, it made up for it with good character development.
We got to meet Mike's (Patrick Warburton) step brother in this episode. We see the close relationship that Mike's dad and his step brother have. We get to see how Mike wishes for a deeper relationship with his dad. Martina (Carrie Preston) is a therapist and helps everyone become closer through honest communication.
It isn't totally without humor. There are quite a few comedic moments. As usual, the cast is spot on with their delivery. The writers are doing a great job.
I do watch comedies for the purpose of laughing, but I really like it when these comedy shows add a bit of depth in the characters. It makes me more invested in the show and helps add interest in their lives.
