- Desperate for financial stability and independence. a young Chicago native finds himself involved in an unforeseen, violent dilemma.
- Mitchell Harris is a 26 year old Chicago native, from the city's south side. After a job interview goes opposite of his expectations, Harris's desperation for financial stability and independence, leads him into unforeseen, violent dilemma.
- Mitchell Harris has an early breakfast with his mother, while she offers him advice about his current hardships. Turning a cold shoulder to her words, he exits their breakfast prematurely and heads to an interview.
Through voice overs, Mitchell reveals that his family background is less than ideal and that his father died from an unexpected illness. Having lived with his mother since his teenage years, he has since developed a passiveness towards religion and faith, siting his belief in "free will" and dependency on himself. He desires to live on his own, but the process has been less than simple.
Mitchell has an interview with an old college friend, Nick, who bypasses employment protocol to get him an immediate position on the job. Thankful for the opportunity, Mitchell becomes excited and Nick reveals he'll be placed at an entry level spot, with smaller pay than Mitchell's preference. They bump heads over the offer, with Mitchell believing Nick was uncaring of his current living situation. Its revealed that Nick's family owns the company which he works for; a factor that is a touchy subject for him. Choosing to end their interview, Nick maintains the offer for Mitchell, and informs him "its his if he wants it" but it has a time limit.
Later in the day, Mitchell goes to a local restaurant where another friend, Moses, works. They talk about the interview, while Mitchell eats and Moses humors his attempts at a independence. Moses offers him immediate pay for a moving job while he sorts out his situation with working and living at home. Moses informs him that he owns his own client based moving company, and that the job is straight forward and nothing complicated. Preparing to close for the night, Moses writes the address down for the move and Mitchell exits the restaurant. He closes up shop and tends to his last customer left behind.
The next evening, Mitchell, Moses and an unknown woman arrive at the moving address. After several knocks, the door is answered by disgruntled tenant. Moses speaks with the man and informs him of non-payment on his rent that goes back several months, and serves him an eviction notice (going completely against the duties of the moving job spoken about the day before). Embarrassed by the talk of non-payment, the man invites them into his apartment to talk in private.
Once inside, Moses and the man speak about the issue, and the woman stands near by against the wall of the hallway. Mitchell, taken by the size of the apartment, wanders into the living room, imagining himself in the man's financial position. The conversation turns into a heated dispute, and the woman removes a gun from her waist, shooting the tenant in his head. Startled by the gunshot, Mitchell fearfully questions Moses, who then turns the gun on him to silence the demands. The Woman emerges from a room, with a duffel bag of money, dumping it on the floor. Moses reveals that the tenant was extortionist, whose wealth was from blackmailing and other crimes. He gives Mitchell a cut of the money, threatening him in a catch 22 (if he gives the money up and tells the police, he's a snitch and will be known on the streets. If he keeps the money, he's an accessory to a murder and home invasion).
The next morning, Mitchell wakes up to a voicemail from Nick - informing him that he was able to get him the pay he originally wanted. Staring at the money from the moving job, he sits on the edge of the bed lost in thought.
The Final image is Mitchell sitting on the bed, and a window opened behind him with a brick wall outside of it.
