Elder Hull has earing scars. In the 1950s it would be very rare for any man to wear an earing, let alone a Mormon.
The painting seen in the missionaries' apartment (Del Parsons' "Christ in Red Robe") was painted in 1983. A painting in the mission president's office showing Jesus Christ with a child (Greg Olsen's "In His Light") was painted in 1999. Olsen's portrait of Jesus "The Gentle Healer" also appears in the mission president's office. All of these were created decades after the film's mid-1950s setting.
