The setting is December in the Smokey Mountains, a time when it is very cold outside. The trees all have bright green leaves on them, the grass is high, nobody is cold, and there are hostas and other seasonal plants visible in the background. This reveals the film was shot earlier in the year.
Throughout the film the lights on the board are switched on the nearer it gets to Christmas. Near the end of the film these lights are at two days to go. Mason then gets a phone call to play at a concert, but during the next conversation with Shelby says that he will be back on the 27th.
When Mason asks Shelby to dance, he holds out his right hand. Men are to lead with their left hands.
Most of the voice-over cast is credited incorrectly in the credits. Elizabeth Devito is Caller Number 1 and Kendra Novelli is the Hostess.
