#1Comments from the famous actor Aamir Khan ✔ @aamir_khan Hey guys, just saw one of the most amazing films I have seen in a long time! Thithi. (1/4)http://t.co/xc0LTGcW6c Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE performance! And all non actors in the film. And how funny is it?!!! (3/4) It's a little difficult to slot it into a genre, but it's really funny.Don't miss it. Love. a. (4/4) — Aamir Khan (@aamir_khan) May 30, 2016 #2. Legendary American filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet (director of Amélie) are fans of Thithi. After watching the film at the Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco,Coppola said "I want to be like Century Gowda (one of the central characters in the film)! Such a beautiful film, such unforgettable characters.
#3. Hollywood biggies like Wes Anderson and Tom Cruise are also aware about the film #4.At the 63rd National Film Awards, Thithi won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Kannada.
#5.Thithi won the two top prizes at the prestigious Locarno International Film Festival: The Golden Leopard and the Swatch Best First Feature #6.Anurag Kashyap @anuragkashyap72 "THITHI" is that one film that I have seen thrice and I can see it any number of times. Don't miss this gem
#7.irrfan ✔ @irrfan_k Watching #Thithi was such an amazing endearing experience :-) @RaamReddy89 👏🏻
#8.Speaking of non-actors, almost all the actors in the film have never acted before. The makers handpicked regular villagers including farmers to play themselves on the screen
#9. There's a very good chance for Thithi to be India's official entry to the Oscars next year. Thithi was the only Indian film competing in the international international category at the 17th Jio Mami Mumbai Film Festival. With 11 international awards already in its kitty, film scholars are already backing Thithi to be India's next entry to the Oscars

It's no easy task to make a movie where none of the 'actors' are actors, and still end up with something entertaining. Please watch it if you haven't already!
Kannada film industry is going through a paradigm shift gradually. The filmmakers are taking the affliction on their shoulders to elevate the quality of regional Indian Cinema like Malayalam, Tamil,Telugu, Marathi or Bengali.
Having created movies Like Lucia, RangiTaranga, Ulidavaru Kandanthe etc, the storytelling and narratives are shifting towards excellence.
Ram Reddy has done a marvelous job with a satire "Thithi". The idea and setup work wonderfully.
Working with non-actors and keeping the realism intact is a tough nut to crack. All the ingredients of the movie, a rural setting, authenticity, a dysfunctional family, daily teething troubles, desires, covets and minimalism, work fantastically. The humor is weaved perfectly.
A perfect watch for people who want to watch something different.

"Thithi wont bore you as you will get engaged with characters. Its a must watch movie"
My rating- 4/5 (Dont miss this flick)
Positives- 1.) Screenplay and direction- The best part of screenplay is that it was able to mix humor in a slow paced story making it a satirical comedy. Even though the movie lags, the director was able to keep our attention to the characters and their problems. Each and every dialogues were realistic and also was able to provide natural humor to the plot. So screenplay and direction needs to be appreciated for following variety and experimental film making style.
2.) All actors performance- Each and every actors performance was excellent and looked totally real.
Negatives- 1.)Duration- Duration could have been reduced a bit because it was lagging.
Is it a must watch?
Yes, no doubt about it.
Overall- Watch this award winning movie and its worth it!! My rating- 4/5 (Dont miss this flick) For more reviews go to- Ridinbal movie reviews. Ridinbal movie reviews has all language movie reviews (English, Kannada, Malayalam,Telegu,Tamil,Hindi,Arabic,Iranian)

Thithi (2015) :
Brief Review -
A light-hearted, humourous and realistic Kannada drama set in serious period of post-funeral. Ee Mae Yau (2018) directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery was a very sensitive and heartbreaking film on the same topic but Thithi came 3 years before. And it was made in a complete opposite genre, a humourous comedy+drama.. Though, it has its own seriousness involved in storytelling which you have to understand. It's not a big miss if you don't understand it because you are gonna love the humour anyway. But Thithi definitely lacks powerful and life changing statements even after having a large potential for it in there. In a South Indian village, a centenarian's funeral brings together his free-spirited son, inheritance-hungry grandson and girl-crazy great-grandson. The film is a light-hearted journey of three generations during that specific period of 11 days between the death and the Thithi ceremony. All three generations are shown differently, that is one of the USP of the film but not all three end up making sense. Maybe, the problem was in the theories of the writer rather than actors and theirs execution. Thithi is solidly covered by realistic surroundings so one expects the same realism and brutality in the climax too, which is missing. The actors are fabulous by the way. Not just one or two actors but the entire big cast looked utterly real and natural. The screenplay could have been more pacy. It is dragged by unnecessary pauses and slow movements. Like, i don't understand how someone just walking on the road or doing any daily activities can worth almost 50-60 seconds of the runtime for more the 10 occasions? If you are not showing anything artistic and meaningful then stop wasting time in such scenes na. Don't always cover up your failures under the carpet of realistic cinema. Overall, Thithi is very good but definitely not a Classic. Those last 10 minutes made a big difference in the final impact.
