Before restoring a phone, the flash storage, where the phone's operating system is located, is wiped before the system is re-flashed. A phone disconnected during the restore process would be unusable.
When Gene was scanned for the last time before the phone gets wiped, in Alex's text conversation with Addie, the first emoji he sent her is not shown.
When Gene is picked, Alex should be crouching, holding the phone close to his face behind a book. However, from the perspective of the phone's camera, Alex is shown at waist height. If he hasn't gotten up from his desk, there can't be that angular view.
When Gene crosses paths with the Monkeys, they throw their suitcases toward the crosswalk, but the suitcases disappear in the next scene. Instead, there are papers scattered around the Monkeys that just appeared out of nowhere.
During the bathroom scene, Mel placed the slippery floor sign almost right up against the door. But when Poop Sr. and Jr. come out of the bathroom, the sign is far enough away from the door that it can be opened all the way.
When Smiler shows the Text Place, Angry Face Emoji on the right of Poop. When Alex chooses Gene, he is to the right of Poop.
Jailbreaking a phone voids its warranty. Alex would not have been able to send it to tech support.
When Alex unplugs the phone during its deletion process at the ending scene, everything restores and recovers on the phone. Which isn't possible to do in real life.
In the opening scene of the movie, the phone atoms in the display matrix are too close together, which is impossible.
The scanning hand finger's surface is very smooth, with no notches. Therefore, when Gene jumped on it after the failed scan, he should have fallen off it immediately, let alone being able to hold on to it while it wobbles and damages the Emoji Bar.
In the opening scene of the movie, there is supposed to be a small gap between the subpixels. They cannot be placed next to each other.
The Emojis go through other apps in order to get to Dropbox, but it would be much quicker and easier to just walk around the apps. They are being chased by the bots, so it's safer to go through the apps.
Gene's failed first scan at the beginning of the movie has multiple expressions mixed in a single image, while his second and third scans at the end of the movie result in an animated image. That's (implicitly) because Jailbreak reconfigured the scanner.
Gene's failed first scan looks as if the scanner moved horizontally, while it actually moved from top to bottom.
In the board meeting scene, when Smiler covers the windows, there is diffused light from the neighboring buildings outside, but as it falls on Gene, it casts a too-clear shadow.
The Hammer emoji appears as a judge's gavel in some scenes. It looks like Apple's original graphic for the iPhone, which changed with iOS6 in 2012.
While most of the emojis in the film are part of the set standardized by Unicode, Toaster, Broom and Disco Ball were not as of mid-2017. The Fortune Cookie and Takeout Box emojis were officially added to the Unicode Standard in June 2017, a month before the movie came out, so they would not have been on phones during filming.
As the Emojis start chanting Gene's name, Hi-5 begins chanting his own name and making comments. His mouth is never in sync with the words, it just opens and closes.
In the Candy Crush sequence, the Candy Crush comments are heard, but unlike the game, no titles appear.
Alex can see the emojis on his keyboard before he picks them. The image data is already in the memory, so there is no reason the emojis would need to be scanned every time they are picked.
Jailbreak says that the Anti-Virus bot is illegal malware and can't get into Dropbox because it's a secure app. However, after she turns down Gene's advances while they're still in the app and he walks off upset the Anti-Virus bot reaches in and takes him, even though it shouldn't be able to enter the app.
If a user were to click on multiple emojis very quickly, how would the slow scanning arm have time to scan them all? It wouldn't.
You don't need tech support to wipe your phone, it is more than easy to it yourself.
Jailbreak uses her Princess powers to summon the Twitter logo to be able to fly herself and High Five to Gene's location and rescue him. Why didn't she summon the logo earlier? It would have been far more convenient for them instead of walking through the numerous dangerous apps while being chased by Anti-Virus bots.
Eggplant Emoji, seen in the Loser Lounge next to Felicia, playing Pong, is considered "never used." He appears later at the Text Place.
Jailbreak claims that all female emojis are programmed to be princesses or brides, and she tries to stand out by being a tomboy hacker. However, Gene's mother is a female "Meh" emoji, and Smiler is a female "Smiley Face" emoji. An angel emoji is also female.
Laugher claimed that he could "see the bone" of his broken arm, even though there was no bone sticking out.
Hi-5 has no nails, but he has a nail polish.
In the Gene selection scene, the Gust is the only emoji that is not mirrored on Alex's phone display.
