Toffee!

"Mewindendence Day" is great if only because we get to see Toffee really get into action. I mean, this guy's so awesome it's hard to see him fail at being entertaining. I guess we'll never know why Buff Frog wasn't able to use that mace. It still sets up later episodes as he's kicked out of Ludo's castle. It's very entertaining to see the characters in these giant knight costumes. Toffee is a lizard person, so what does his name even have anything to do with toffee? "Gravity Falls" had the eye of the Illuminati as a villain, so Disney is really into conspiracy theories lately! ***1/2

"The Banagic Incident" is decent, but it's not one of the stronger episodes. Marco goes off to karate class while Star goes off to find the banagic wand, actually a store bought machine. Marco's plot was a lot more interesting. After seeing him fail to control his energy he ends up succeeding in a pretty awesome way. That's why he's my favorite character. I just want him to succeed at everything while still appearing as a real person. ***

Star learns a lesson about Mewni's history and learns to navigate Earth.

Mewnipendence Day was so great, it became an Admirable Animation video at the end of the year. It is the beginning of Star learning that not all monsters are as evil as she thought they were, and she feels bad for Buff Frog when he fails to steal her wand again. The Banagic Incident was also excellent because it was fun to see Star navigate Earth like a fantasy quest, trying to find the TV store with the Banagic Wand while Marco had his own subplot where he learns to control his emotions so he can step on hot coals.
