Trivia | Seven Year Switch is so named as a play on the common phrase "The Seven Year Itch." The seven-year itch is a term used to describe the point in time that happiness and connection in a relationship declines. According to various studies and surveys, this often occurs around the seventh year of marriage-leading the couple to disconnect emotionally and stray physically. Divorce rates across the United States (and some parts of Europe and Australia) show a sustained trend that couples, on average, divorce around the seven-year mark. Statistically, there is a low risk of separation during the first months of marriage. Couples are happy and in the "honeymoon phase" of their relationship. However, as months and years pass, divorce rates start to increase-reaching a critical point between five and seven years, tensions can rise to a point that couples either divorce or adapt to their partner.
