The production of the movie was delayed for 5 months because the crew discovered that the whole line of EOS 1DC cameras Canon produced was defective and prone to bad pixel problems in 4K mode. Canon did not address the problem properly and this has led to many heated online debates and the possible initiation of a class action lawsuit against Canon by a group of EOS 1DC cinematographers.
In 2016 the Ixtlan cave featured in this movie became the longest single entrance underwater cave in the world, surpassing the second longest by almost twice the length. By 2017 Ixtlan had already a total of 15.4 kilometers of surveyed passages and 27 open ended unexplored cave lines still. All exploration has been done by Ivo Kalushev and Deyan Iliev.
