Factual errors

When Colonel Mike Rose refers having an alternate plan, he states that 'silenced' weapons will be used. The correct term is 'suppressed' weapons. Military personnel would know this.
In 1980 the SAS were still based at Bradbury Lines, Hereford not at RAF Hereford as indicated at the start of the film.
Around 65 minutes into the film a hostage is shot several times in the head at the bottom of the stairs at the close range he was shot his head wounds would've been more severe.
When the caretaker is looking at the model, he is escorted by a Sergeant with a full face bushy beard. The British army does not allow the growing of beards, only mustaches. Full beards are only accepted in the Royal Navy. Although some of the SAS do sport facial stubble and have some latitude in their appearance, this type of beard would preclude the use of a respirator, (gas mask)

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When the caretaker is looking at the model, he is escorted by a Sergeant with a full face bushy beard. A Pioneer Sergeant is the only position within the British Army allowed to have a beard. They are responsible for carpentry and joinery, which in the context of the scene, is exactly what he is doing.

Revealing mistakes

Every time the terrorists speak, the caption on the screen says "speaking Arabic". The language they are speaking is not Arabic and this happens throughout the entire film.
The hostage get killed by Faisal is wearing a grayish green coat in the movie while he actually was wearing an orange coat in the documentary scene that showed the corpse being collected out of embassy.

Miscellaneous

At a COBRA meeting around 40:55 into the movie, Colonel Rose says that the SAS have an "alternate" plan; when actually it should be "alternative" plan.
The name of the arrested gunman was Fowzi Badawi Nejad, which was mistakenly written as Fowzi Nejad in the pre-credit additional information.

Anachronisms

Some of the weapons carried by the SAS team have parts that were developed much later than the 1980 period, e.g. lowers developed for US navy in '86 and F style stocks that were part of the 2000 update.
The embassy was taken on the 30th April 1980. When the terrorists first enter there is a B11 series, Nissan Sunny 1.5 SGL Estate parked outside (TNN 998W) - however the W registration letter was not issued until 1st August 1980. Furthermore, in 1980 Nissan cars were still branded and marketed as Datsun, not Nissan. The Nissan Sunny B11 series cars were only introduced after late 1981.
The scene where the chief inspector Max Vernon walks up to the siege you can clearly see a "facelift" (1981) Mark II Ford Granda Police Vehicle (Reg YPA 629Y). Regardless, the Y reg cars did not come out until 1982 but this siege was in April 1980.
Parked behind the anachronistic Nissan Sunny Estate (TNN 998W) is a Mark II Vauxhall Cavalier (in blue) which was first introduced in the UK in 1981, at least a year after the film was set.
