Becoming Anita Ekberg (2014)

*** (out of 4)

Nice "video essay" from director Mark Rappaport talks about the life of a sex goddess and in the case of Anita Ekberg who came to Hollywood doing bit parts in Martin and Lewis pictures before finding her lasting fame in LA DOLCE VITA. The documentary, clocking in at 17-minutes, does a very nice job at showing clips from countless movies that Ekberg was in but it also does a nice job at discussing what made her so desirable to so many people and what has made her legacy live on. The documentary also discusses a few other bombshells from this era and how life just usually isn't unfair since once you reach a certain age you're pretty much done for in Hollywood standards. BECOMING ANITA EKBERG will certainly appeal to fans of the actress and those who are unfamiliar with her will also want to watch it just to see what made her who she became.
