The scene took place in the passenger terminal of Chicago's Midway Airport, at the check in area east of Cicero Ave., in Chicago. In reality, the only passengers who would be using it are those flying on airliners, not business jets. Passengers go through security and cross over Cicero Ave. in order to get to the gates.
In this scene, Halsted and his informant go from this check in area, through a corridor, and into a hangar with business jets.
Those flying on business jets would actually go to a fixed base operator (FBO), such as Signature Flight Support or Atlantic Aviation, where they would not encounter the usual TSA lines that are the norm for airliners.

Voight runs through the airport security scanner with a gun but it doesn't go off.
